Former media personality and broadcaster Wendy Williams has finally addressed Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, following his recent arrest. In a statement to the Daily Mail on October 1, 2024, the 60-year-old, who has often criticized the music mogul throughout her career, said:
“What is really weird is that I have been told by so many people, ‘Wendy, you called it,’ including some people from my family who have said the same.”
To provide some context, the feud between Combs and Williams dates back to the 1990s when she voiced her opposition to the rapper on her radio show, Hot 97. She claimed that her outspoken nature led to her being fired and suggested that he may have played a role in it. Wendy has consistently been vocal about her disdain for Combs over the years.
As Wendy Williams’ remarks gained traction online, social media users reacted swiftly. One individual commented:
“This who we really need for the tea! Ms Wendyyyy!”
Many fans expressed a desire for Wendy Williams to share the complete story in a formal interview. Others noted how initially, her criticisms of the rapper went largely unrecognized:
Amid her ongoing health struggles, some users highlighted the significance of Wendy’s statement, indicating the seriousness of the situation.
“It is about time”- Wendy Williams comments on CCTV footage showing Diddy allegedly abusing Cassie Ventura
Diddy’s legal troubles escalated last November, when his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit accusing him of rape and abuse. Though this lawsuit was settled swiftly, multiple others came forward with similar claims, prompting a federal investigation into allegations of sex trafficking against the rapper.
In May 2024, CNN released CCTV footage from 2016 that depicted Combs kicking and dragging Cassie Ventura in a hotel lobby, corroborating her claims made in the lawsuit. At the time, Diddy issued an apology video on Instagram, which has since been removed.
In her interview with the Daily Mail, Wendy Williams also shared her reaction to the disturbing footage. Expressing her dismay, she remarked:
“You know how I feel about that? It is about time. To see this video on TV of (Cassie) getting pummeled… it was just horrific.”
Wendy Williams elaborated further:
“But now you have to think, how many more times? How many people? How many more women? It’s just so horrible.”
In September, federal agents arrested Combs, also known for his song “I’ll Be Missing You,”on serious charges including racketeering and sex trafficking involving force, fraud, and transportation for prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Earlier today, October 2, Texas lawyer Tony Buzbee announced in a press conference that he is representing 120 new victims, 25 of whom are minors. He alleged that these victims had been sexually assaulted and exploited, stating that Combs drugged them with a horse tranquilizer named xylazine.
Buzbee’s team intends to expose other individuals who might have enabled the rapper’s actions but will approach this matter with caution before naming anyone. Diddy’s lawyer, Emily Wolff, has categorically denied all the allegations against him, calling Buzbee’s claims “false and defamatory.”
According to Fox News, Diddy is currently on suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York City as he awaits trial.
