“We’ll bring a strap back” – Izaak Michell fired up to lead the way for Australian fighters in ONE Championship

Izaak Michell has recently made a grand commitment to his home country of Australia.

The Australian standout is poised for an impressive debut in ONE Championship as he prepares to take on Tye Ruotolo for the ONE welterweight submission grappling world title in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 21.

This Friday on US primetime, Michell will strive to secure the gold and hand Ruotolo his first promotional defeat at the renowned Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.

During an interview with ONE Championship, Izaak Michell confidently stated that he would be returning to Australia a few days after the fight with 26 pounds of gold in his carry-on luggage.

“Yeah, we’ll bring a strap back. So yeah, definitely. I believe it’s gonna happen and it will mean a lot to me. I’m sure it will mean a lot to others as well.”

Despite only being a newcomer in the professional Brazilian jiu-jitsu scene, Michell has caused chaos and emerged victorious in various competitions. Notably, he has claimed titles in the ADCC Asia & Oceania Trials and Who’s Next Tournament in 2022, as well as securing a gold medal in the brown belt division at the 2021 IBJJF No Gi World Championships.

A victory in ONE Championship over the unbeaten Tye Ruotolo, on the other hand, has the potential to elevate Michell to great heights.

ONE Fight Night 21, like all other ONE Championship events on Amazon, can be watched live and at no cost by Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.

Izaak Michell and Tye Rutolo Set to Deliver an Instant Classic

Izaak Michell’s goal is not only to claim the gold from Tye Ruotolo, but also to deliver a memorable performance in his ONE Championship debut.

During the interview, Michell also expressed confidence that his and Ruotolo’s styles will complement each other perfectly, making a barnburner fight in Bangkok almost guaranteed when they face off.

“Yeah, I just got to say thank you to everyone for tuning in and watching, watching us, and supporting me especially, I appreciate that a lot. Tune in, and watch Tye and I throw down. I believe it’s going to be one for the record books.”
