On October 17, 2024, Jung Hoseok, popularly known as j-hope from BTS, proudly completed his mandatory military duty after a nearly 18-month commitment, much to the delight of his devoted fans, ARMYs. He initially enlisted for service on April 18, 2023.
During his time in the military, he held various ranks, including Private, Sergeant, and was recognized as a Special Force member. Additionally, he served as a platoon leader and received promotion to Special Elite Corporal for his outstanding contributions.
Following his return, ARMYs celebrated by trending phrases such as “Jung Hoseok is Back,””Welcome back J-hope,””We are so proud J-hope,”and “Hope Right Here,”demonstrating their enthusiasm for j-hope’s long-anticipated comeback.
“Welcome Back, Hobi! HOPE RIGHT HERE, WELCOME BACK J-HOPE.”
The community of fans warmly welcomed Jung Hoseok, with BTS member Jin arriving at the training facility to greet j-hope. Numerous videos and photos from this heartwarming reunion spread across social media, as fans joyfully marked the long-awaited reunion of their beloved duo, referred to as the moon and sun.

“BTS is one-of-a-kind. Hobi expressed gratitude to the local citizens at his base for their consistent support towards the soldiers. Jin humbly took the media microphones from a female reporter. Genuine kindness and humility,”another fan chimed in.

Meet BTS’ Jung Hoseok
Jung Hoseok, a talented South Korean rapper, dancer, and songwriter for BTS, made his debut with the group in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment. His first solo mixtape, titled Hope World, was released in 2018, earning acclaim and reaching number 38 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States.
In 2019, he became the first member of BTS to enter the Billboard Hot 100 as a solo artist, with his single “Chicken Noodle Soup”(featuring Becky G), debuting at number 81.
On July 15, 2022, he released his first studio album titled Jack in the Box through Big Hit Music. The album consists of ten tracks, including notable songs like “Intro,””Pandora’s Box,””More,”and “Arson.”
Recently, on March 29, 2024, j-hope launched his extended play, Hope on the Street Vol.1, which includes six tracks such as “On the Street”(solo version), “I Wonder”(featuring Jungkook), “Lock Unlock”(with Benny Blanco and Nile Rodgers), and “I Don’t Know”(featuring Huh Yun-jin from LE SSERAFIM).
As it stands, Jung Hoseok and Jin are currently the only BTS members who have completed their military service, with the other members—Kim Namjoon, Kim Taehyung, Suga, Jungkook, and Jimin—expected to finish their service by 2025.
