Weapon Upgrade Guide for WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers

Weapon Upgrade Guide for WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers

In WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, upgrading your arsenal isn’t limited to a straightforward visit to a blacksmith. Instead, players engage with Shrines scattered throughout the game, where they can rest, level up, and unlock various systems to refine their builds and equipment.

These systems encompass the Impetus Repository, along with mechanisms like Tempering, Disciplines, and Benedictions that significantly enhance your combat efficiency.

Upgrading Weapons in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers

The Impetus Repository serves as the core method for weapon upgrades. Beyond this primary system, players can further enhance their gear through Benedictions, the Tempering feature, and specific Disciplines aligned with their chosen play style.

Below is a detailed breakdown of each upgrade method in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers.

Impetus Repository

Within the Impetus Repository, players will find dedicated weapon-specific Nodes. Here, you can utilize Red Mercury Essence and Red Feathers—items collected throughout your journey or dropped by various enemies—to upgrade your weapon’s level. Each weapon can reach a maximum upgrade of +10, making this the primary avenue for enhancement.

As you accumulate levels, you’ll find it easier to upgrade multiple weapons. Importantly, respec-ing your build is completely free of charge, allowing you to experiment with different weapon types and their unique capabilities without penalty.

Additionally, you can allocate Red Mercury Essence to enhance your weapon-related stats, such as Strength for Axes or Agility for Dual Blades, ensuring that your build is fine-tuned to your preferred combat style.

Benedictions

To access Benedictions, players must defeat the Tang Palace Maid boss located in the Cave of Knowledge at Buddha Cliffs early in the game. Benedictions function similarly to weapon charms, and you can equip up to three at any given time, categorized into Oath, Wisdom, and Memory.

As you progress, you can obtain additional Benedictions from merchants, side quests, or exploration, broadening your options for customization. Some Benedictions are part of sets, and equipping matching pieces provides significant bonuses.

It’s wise to select Benedictions that synergize with your playstyle and the weapon you are enhancing, as the passive effects apply specifically to the equipped weapon.

Tempering

Unlocking the Tempering feature comes after defeating the key boss, Man-eater Dhutanga. This system introduces Bone Needles and Stone Needles, which can be embedded into slots known as Acupoints.

These needles confer specific buffs and, crucially, allow modifications to the type of damage inflicted by your weapon. Needles enabling Lightning Damage, Poise Break Damage, or various status effects like Corruption can be utilized for strategic advantage.

Bear in mind that only one Bone Needle can be equipped at a time, while Stone Needles can be inserted into other Acupoints, enhancing your selected Temperance effect. Make your selections based on enemy types and switch them out frequently, as you have unlimited opportunities to fine-tune your setup.

Disciplines

Each weapon inherently possesses a Weapon Skill, but Disciplines introduce a secondary layer akin to Ashes of War from Elden Ring. The particular Discipline equipped on your weapon influences the outputs of your L2 attack.

Players can unlock more Disciplines via the Impetus Repository, where each weapon type typically offers three to four options for players to invest their Red Mercury Essence into, tailoring combat to their preferences.
