During a recent Instagram live session on Saturday, March 30, rapper Doja Cat addressed the criticism she received for her natural hair. The criticism began after she shared a close-up photo of her curly hair on Instagram three days prior. This photo is also the cover art for her new single, “Masc,”which has been a topic of discussion.

During the Instagram live, the 28-year-old rapper could be heard saying,

“We gotta move forward. Let’s move forward. Let’s grow. I can’t tell you what to do… I don’t wanna say too much.”

She also addressed the comparisons people have been making between her natural hair and items such as “popcorn”and “sheep wool.”

During an Instagram live session, Doja Cat responded to the individuals who were trolling her for her recent post, stating:

“I’m seeing a consistent pattern in my comments section…like people comparing my hair to sheep…and carpet, and popcorn, and sh*t like that.”

In addition, she has disabled the comments section for the post showcasing her hair as the cover for her new single.

The Grammy award-winning artist explained during the live show that she had come up with the cover image by hiring a photographer to take a photo of the top of her head. The photo was then enlarged to create a close-up version.

She addressed the trolls and further clarified that she had 4C hair that was all natural.

“My hair to describe it, it’s 4C hair texture, my hair is just 4C. And a lot of y’all don’t give a f*ck and that’s good. Great…It’s my hair. It’s just my hair.”

Upon the artist’s initial reveal of her shaved eyebrows and head two years ago, she was met with an overwhelming amount of criticism online for the unconventional look.

The criticism escalated to such an extent that she resorted to addressing it directly with X. She listed all of her accomplishments before subtly indicating that she was not bothered by others’ opinions of her altered appearance.

Recently, Doja Cat announced that she would be deactivating her Instagram account due to the negative treatment she had been receiving. In her now-deleted post, she wrote:

“Hey i’m gonna deactivate because i’m not really feeling this anymore. You guys take care of yourselves. I like coming here to find inspo and see people being creative but i just feel like this is getting to be too much.”

In addition, she elaborated on the appropriate conduct that individuals should adhere to on social media platforms.

Despite reportedly making her account unavailable after posting the same, her recent live video and posts suggest that she has since returned to the platform once again.
