“We don’t need Draymond Green”: Warriors fans call out Green’s naysayers amid clutch block in win vs Mavericks
Despite contributing to the Golden State Warriors’ 104-100 victory over the Dallas Mavericks at Chase Center on Tuesday, Draymond Green‘s postgame gestures and celebrations were not well-received by fans. The veteran forward’s recent display of on-court antics has not been forgiven by the fans, who made their disapproval known on social media.
Despite Green’s clutch block in the final minutes of the game, the negative comments on social media have continued without pause.
Despite the Mavericks’ attempts to close the six-point gap at the Warriors’ home court, Green displayed his impressive defensive skills. His first move was to shut down Kyrie Irving’s drive, followed by quickly responding to the guard’s pass to Daniel Gafford.
As a result, he successfully maintained possession for the team by preventing the loose ball from going out of bounds. This ultimately led to a much-needed victory for the Dubs.
After the game, Green was spotted celebrating as he headed into the tunnel.
One of the supporters was very direct in their words.
“We don’t need Draymond”
Several other reactions ensued:
In the game, Draymond Green recorded 11 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. The Warriors were able to secure their 10th place in the Western Conference with the win, but the most significant aspect was Green’s lack of drama and ability to avoid another ejection.
Steve Kerr Addresses Draymond Green’s Ejection and Team Discipline
The video of Steph Curry’s emotional response to Draymond Green’s ejection in the first four minutes of their game against the Orlando Magic is still circulating on social media. Last week, head coach Steve Kerr provided insight into why the sharpshooter reacted the way he did during an interview on 95.7 The Game.
“Every game being so important. And us fighting for everything and for Draymond to get kicked out three minutes in. It was unforgivable. And I think Steph may have been a little upset with himself for not pulling Draymond Green out of there but I think mostly it was just, come on, man.”
Despite Green’s ejection, the Warriors were able to secure a win, but it served as a frustrating reminder for Curry and encapsulated the team’s challenging season. Green’s involvement in altercations with Rudy Gobert and Jusuf Nurkic resulted in a 12-game suspension.
Despite being a valuable player on the court, his behavior and resulting consequences have contributed to the team’s lackluster performance this season.
