“We can be in this (fight) for 5 years” – Alex Rodriguez exhibits resilience to Glen Taylor amid Timberwolves’ ownership saga

“We can be in this (fight) for 5 years” – Alex Rodriguez exhibits resilience to Glen Taylor amid Timberwolves’ ownership saga

Despite being on the verge of purchasing a majority stake in the Minnesota Timberwolves, former MLB star Alex Rodriguez and his business partner Marc Lore’s deal has fallen through. The transfer of ownership was halted after current owner Glen Taylor announced on Thursday that he would no longer be proceeding with the $1.5 billion transaction, which had reportedly been agreed upon with Rodriguez and Lore.

According to The Athletic, despite Taylor’s claim that Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore, who currently hold a 40% stake in the team, did not meet the deadline requirements for the sale to be completed, Rodriguez and Lore are disputing this and are determined to proceed with the sale.

“We can be in this (fight) for five years, 10 years, whatever,” Rodriguez said. “We’re not going to let go.”

Additional information was included:

“We will use every ounce of effort here to enforce the contract that Glen broke.”

On Thursday, Taylor spoke to The Associated Press.

“We went through the process, and I spent a lot of time. We’ve got a really good team, we’ve got a lot of good things going for us, I enjoy it and I’m healthy enough to do this. I don’t need the money, so I think I’ll just keep running it and enjoy it. I like my coach. I like my staff. This way everybody gets to keep their jobs, and I’ll be happy.”

A-Rod and partner claim Taylor is experiencing “seller’s remorse”

Following Glen Taylor’s announcement that the sale of the Minnesota Timberwolves and the WNBA’s Lynx would not proceed, Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore issued a joint statement stating:

“We have fulfilled our obligations, have all necessary funding and are fully committed to closing our purchase of the team as soon as the NBA completes its approval process. Glen Taylor’s statement is an unfortunate case of seller’s remorse that is short sighted and disruptive to the team and the fans during a historic winning season.”

Although it is currently uncertain who is to blame for the failed transfer of ownership, Rodriguez’s claim that Glen Taylor regrets selling is not unfathomable. The Timberwolves have been a top-performing team in the NBA, currently holding the top spot in the Western Conference with a record of 51-22.

In recent times, the Timberwolves have not been as significant as they were during the era of Kevin Garnett. Their last appearance in the Western Conference finals was in 2004, making them one of only five teams to never make it to the NBA Finals.
