“We are rewarded for acting like children by society” – Sean Strickland backtracks on apology, doubles down on importance of ‘raising boys to be men’
Once again, Sean Strickland has resorted to social media to share his thoughts on society.
Despite his success in the UFC, ‘Tarzan’ has gained a strong fan base for reasons beyond his fighting skills. Strickland is a staunch supporter of former US President Donald Trump and has publicly expressed his aspirations to enter the political arena someday.
Until that time, Strickland continues to use X as his platform for sharing his thoughts on politics and life. In his most recent social media activity, the ex-UFC middleweight champion shared a series of posts discussing the decline of masculinity in today’s society. He also expressed his belief that men who own dogs should focus on raising children instead.
Despite issuing an apology, Strickland soon retracted his statement. Just today, he revisited the topic of men’s role in society. According to the former UFC champion, we have neglected to teach boys how to become men.
Strickland also pointed out that the increasing number of social media influencers further supports his argument. This was evident in his previous altercation with Sneako, which clearly shows his disdain for influencers. In a post on X, the middleweight wrote:
“Well said. This is also something I’ve struggled with as well being from a broken home. We just don’t raise boys to be men these days. Me included. As a society it would benefit us to make boys WANT to be men. We are rewarded for acting like children by society. (influencers)”
What is Sean Strickland’s upcoming fight schedule?
Currently, there is no record of Sean Strickland signing a deal to come back to the octagon.
At UFC 297 in January, ‘Tarzan’ made his first title defense as the middleweight champion. His opponent was Dricus du Plessis, and their intense rivalry quickly escalated during the fight.
Earlier this year, the two fighters delivered a thrilling five-round performance in Canada. In the end, the South African emerged victorious with a split-decision win. Since then, Strickland has been vocal about his desire for a rematch with ‘Stillknocks’.
Despite this, it appears that the UFC has different intentions. Recent reports have revealed that the organization is arranging a matchup between du Plessis and former titleholder Israel Adesanya. It is said that the fight will take place in Australia in the coming months.
The outcome of the middleweight title fight will also have an impact on Strickland’s future. He has suggested that if he is not given the opportunity to compete for a UFC championship, he may consider transitioning to boxing.
