This change reflects Warner Bros.’ confidence in the film as a blockbuster contender, as it takes the release slot originally allocated for Sinners, another film directed by Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler.

The journey to the screen for Mickey 17 has not been smooth. Initially announced in January 2022, the film generated considerable buzz after Joon-Ho’s remarkable success with Parasite. Originally anticipated for a March 29, 2024 release, production faced delays due to COVID-19 and subsequent issues, ultimately leading to Warner Bros. removing the film from its schedule in January 2024 amidst the SAG-AFTRA strike and subsequent post-production setbacks.
