WATCH: Thai phenom Tawanchai dupes Jo Nattawut with trick-laden two-hit combo in first matchup
Despite what flashy social media highlights may imply, executing powerful combinations on an opponent is not as effortless as it appears. However, Tawanchai PK Saenchai, a rising star in Muay Thai, has already mastered this skill.
At the age of 24, Tawanchai has already attained superstar status by winning the ONE featherweight Muay Thai world championship in only his fifth ONE Championship fight.
Nonetheless, his expertise in striking was put to the ultimate challenge when he faced off against ‘Smokin’ Jo Nattawut, a former Super Lightweight World Champion of the World Muaythai Council (WMC), in a kickboxing match at ONE Fight Night 15 in late 2023.
Despite only having a TKO victory over Davit Kiria two months earlier, Tawanchai was determined to demonstrate his ability to compete with experienced fighters and was determined to do so against Nattawut.
In an Instagram post by ONE Championship, Tawanchai deceived Nattawut with a feint kick, causing him to brace for impact. However, Tawanchai ultimately aimed for his opponent’s body with the kick and then quickly followed up with a powerful left hand that landed solidly on Nattawut’s face.
Mark your calendars for Tawanchai – Nattawut II in June
The initial encounter between the two Thai stars caused a buzz among fans, and the upcoming rematch is expected to bring even more excitement as Tawanchai and Nattawut face off once again at ONE 167 on June 7 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
Nattawut remains convinced that he would have emerged victorious against Tawanchai if he had the opportunity to go through a complete fight camp. And now, he has the perfect opportunity to back up his words as he prepares to challenge Tawanchai for the ONE featherweight Muay Thai world championship.
All Prime Video subscribers in North America will have the opportunity to watch ONE 167 live and without any additional cost.
