WATCH: Stamp Fairtex’s intense back-and-forth duel against Alyona Rassohyna in the Atomweight MMA World Grand Prix
ONE Championship boasts a highly talented roster, including standout names like Stamp Fairtex, the current women’s atomweight MMA world champion.
The Muay Thai and kickboxing athlete, who has since become a successful MMA fighter, had already competed in five MMA fights prior to facing off against experienced MMA veteran Alyona Rassohyna in February 2021.
At ONE: Empower in September of that year, the Ukrainian star’s shrewdness resulted in the first-ever three-sport ONE world champion’s defeat via submission. However, the champion eventually had the opportunity to seek revenge in the opening round of the 2021 ONE Women’s Atomweight MMA World Grand Prix.
Stamp surprised Rassohyna during their initial meeting by taking notes and engaging in a ground battle early on in the fight, while Rassohyna was unafraid to exchange strikes.
Despite a thrilling exchange of strikes and grappling on both the feet and the mat, Stamp emerged victorious with a split decision – providing a glimpse of her potential for future success in MMA to the excited fans.
Stamp Fairtex to face off against close friend in highly anticipated atomweight title defense
In the main event of ONE 167 on June 7, Denice Zamboanga will challenge Stamp for the ONE women’s atomweight MMA world championship, putting Stamp’s determination to the test once again.
Stamp and ‘The Menace’ were initially training partners at Fairtex Training Center. However, they both decided to pursue their own paths and joined different gyms. This decision proved to be successful for Stamp, as she is currently on a two-fight winning streak.
Zamboanga recently acknowledged that even though she and Stamp have a close relationship, many things have evolved. She is eager to defeat Stamp in front of her fellow countrymen at ONE 167, which is set to happen at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
ONE 167 will be broadcasted live and at no cost to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
