WATCH: Marat Grigorian’s calculated four-hit sequence that knocked out eternal rival Sitthichai in Tokyo

Over the course of nearly ten years, Marat Grigorian and Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong were involved in one of the most renowned rivalries in kickboxing history.

Despite being familiar foes from their previous encounters under the Kunlun Fight and GLORY Kickboxing banners, Grigorian and the renowned Thai fighter finally faced off for the last time at ONE Championship’s ONE 165 event in January. Having never been able to secure a knockout victory in their past meetings, both fighters were determined to settle their intense rivalry with a definitive finish in front of a raucous crowd at Tokyo’s Ariake Arena.

In that moment, the Armenian fighter solidified his dominance by finishing off Sitthichai in the third round with a skillful combination that ended with a devastating strike to the liver, causing his opponent to collapse to the ground.

“Marat Grigorian is a TECHNICIAN. Can the striking powerhouse claim the ONE Interim Featherweight Kickboxing World Title against Superbon when they meet again at ONE Friday Fights 58 on April 5?”

The defeat of Sitthichai has opened up a chance for Marat Grigorian to once more pursue his initial ONE world championship title. He will be the main event for ONE Friday Fights 58, marking the promotion’s comeback to the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on April 5.

Grigorian is set to face off against his Thai rival, Superbon Superbon Training Camp, in a highly anticipated match to determine the new ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world champion.

Despite having met twice before, Marat Grigorian and Superbon are familiar adversaries. Their first encounter took place at Kunlun Fight 69 in February 2018, where the Armenian emerged victorious with a devastating knockout in just 29 seconds.

Four years later, they reunited at ONE Championship’s 10th-anniversary showcase ONE X. On that occasion, Superbon emerged victorious with a dominant display, securing a unanimous decision win. Excited to face each other once more in the Circle, Grigorian is determined to replicate his previous successful performance against Sitthichai earlier this year.

Will the ex-three-time GLORY Kickboxing champion secure his initial 26 pounds of ONE Championship gold, or will Superbon once more reign as the featherweight kickboxing champion of the promotion?

The event ONE Friday Fights 58 will be available for live streaming on pay-per-view at watch.onefc.com on Friday, April 5.
