Daniil Medvedev posted an endearing video in which he is seen teaching his one-year-old daughter Alisa how to play football. The Russian also spent quality time with his daughter while swimming in a pool.

In October 2022, Medvedev and his wife Daria welcomed their daughter Alisa into the world. Since then, she has accompanied her parents to some tournaments where her father has competed for titles. Most recently, Alisa joined them at the Miami Open, where Medvedev advanced to the semifinals before losing to reigning Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner.

During his Miami Open campaign, the ATP World No. 4 resided at the Four Seasons Hotel in the town of Surfside. After his defeat to Sinner, Medvedev and Alisa ventured to the hotel’s lawn, where they played football and the toddler also enjoyed using a miniature racquet and tennis ball.

Afterwards, the winner of the 2021 US Open formed a closer bond with his daughter by joining her for a swim in the hotel’s pool.

Medvedev approached his semifinal match against Sinner at the Miami Open in a similar manner to his approach in the final of this year’s Australian Open.

In Melbourne, the Russian player displayed a higher level of aggression than usual, and it seemed likely that he would secure the Australian Open title after winning the first two sets. However, fatigue eventually affected Medvedev’s performance, causing him to deviate from his aggressive style of play. As a result, Sinner took advantage and emerged as the winner of his first Grand Slam title.

In Miami, the Russian’s tactical decision proved to be a major setback from the beginning. Following his devastating defeat of 1-6, 2-6 against Sinner, Medvedev shared his insights on his downfall. The World No. 4 acknowledged that his trademark counterpunching strategy is no longer effective against the Italian, prompting him to adopt a more offensive and forceful approach.

“My plan was to play aggressive kind of like in Australia, a bit more aggressive than I usually do, and it’s always a risk. Because even if I practise this on practice courts, my game is like counter, defensive style. But I felt like against him, and that’s why I did it in Australia, this might not be not enough anymore, and that’s why the head-to-head is a little bit worse than it was a couple of months ago,”Medvedev said (via ATPTour.com).

The Russian further acknowledged that the ineffectiveness of his altered playing style was not a result of the style itself, but rather his own mistakes and lack of precision.

“I think the tactics I used in the beginning of the match was not the problem. The problem was the execution, too many mistakes, not enough precision,”Medvedev added.
