WATCH: Carlos Alcaraz hilariously gets his feelings ‘hurt’ by April Fool’s Day prank ft. Hitting a tennis ball over a house roof
Carlos Alcaraz, the renowned Spanish tennis player, jokingly stated that his emotions were affected following a prank on April Fool’s Day. He was led to believe that he had hit a tennis ball over a house roof and landed it perfectly within the target.
Babolat, a French company that specializes in equipment for tennis, badminton, and padel, pulled a prank on him by having team members excitedly celebrate as if Alcaraz had successfully hit the target in a ball-hitting challenge. The challenge required the Spaniard to land the ball inside a basket placed on the other side of a house in order to win.
Despite initially believing the team’s version, Carlos Alcaraz had a suspicion that it could be a prank since it was April Fool’s Day. He made sure to watch the video in order to confirm if he had actually hit the target.
“No way, no way. I have to see the video,”Alcaraz said on hearing the team erupt in happiness.
The Babolat team granted his request and showed the video of the Spaniard hitting the tennis ball. The footage revealed that he had failed to hit the intended target.
“You have hurt my feelings. You all guys,”Alcaraz joked when he was shown the actual video in which it was clear that he missed his target.
Recently, a member of the Babolat team extended an invitation to Carlos Alcaraz for a friendly challenge. The young Spaniard eagerly accepted and proceeded to hit balls across the roof of a house, with the assistance of a team member who provided guidance on the trajectory of his shots.
In the initial three tries, the Spaniard failed to hit the target, with the Babolat team member specifying the exact location of the ball. However, the team convinced him that he had successfully hit the target on his fourth attempt.
“It was so obvious,”Alcaraz said (in Spanish). “April Fools?”a Babolat team member asked. “But it was close. At least that’s something,”the Spaniard replied with a smile.
Rafael Nadal to defend title at Monte Carlo Masters
Starting on April 8, Carlos Alcaraz will begin his clay court season at the Monte Carlo Masters. This will be his second time participating in the tournament, with his only previous appearance being in 2022 where he was defeated by Sebastian Korda in three sets at the ATP 1000 event.
Despite experiencing physical discomfort, Alcaraz still performed well in the clay court season last year, winning titles in Barcelona and Madrid. However, in 2023, he was forced to withdraw from the tournament.
Alcaraz, the Spaniard, was able to defend his title at the Indian Wells Masters by defeating Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the finals in straight sets. This victory marked the end of Alcaraz’s title drought, which dated back to his memorable win at Wimbledon in 2023.
He was the first man to successfully defend his title at Indian Wells since Novak Djokovic, who had won three consecutive trophies at the tournament from 2014 to 2016.
