Unveiling COD Mobile’s Krai: The Renowned Ural Mountains Map Reimagined
While Activision never made any official announcements, there were swirling rumors that the Ural Mountains would serve as the map for a potential Blackout 2 in the Call of Duty franchise. As Warzone gained popularity, the idea of a new Blackout was scrapped. The same map was later rumored to be integrated into Warzone, but that vision never came to fruition, leaving many Call of Duty fans feeling quite let down.
Yesterday, COD Mobile unveiled a trailer showcasing the forthcoming battle royale map, Krai. Viewers immediately recognized various points of interest (POIs) that resemble the leaked images of the Ural Mountains map. Key similarities can be found in areas such as The Zoo (Safari Land and Animal Play Park), Golova (Tranquility Parish), and The Sanatorium, all of which bear a striking resemblance to the datamined visuals of the canceled Warzone map.
The release date for COD Mobile’s Krai is set for November 11, 2024. If you are familiar with the Ural Mountains map, and like many Call of Duty fans, had high hopes for it to be featured in Warzone, you’ll be pleased to know you will finally have the opportunity to experience it. In addition, the Krai map will introduce several new POIs unrelated to the scrapped design, providing a refreshing mix for players after nearly three years without major battle royale map updates in COD Mobile.
