Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 was successfully released as a post- Modern Warfare 2 expansion on November 16 , 2022 . The servers went live at 10:00 AM PST / 1:00 PM EST, and at the same time, Warzone was renamed to Warzone Caldera , as intended, and Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep left the game for good. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was a huge success for Activision and Infinity Ward at launch.
In just 3 days of release, it had already grossed $ 800 million and became the biggest entertainment opening of the year, followed by the $1 billion mark in just 10 days. Not only that, as Activision confirmed, Modern Warfare 2 was the biggest CoD launch across all platforms and rocked the Steam charts , leaving every game in the franchise behind.
Well, Warzone 2.0, which was released as a free Battle Royal add-on for Modern Warfare 2, took the game to the next level; just 2 hours after the servers went live, the number of concurrent players on Steam surpassed 416k, already breaking all concurrent player records for any Call of Duty game.
However, this was not the end and the game continues to go up and is currently at a new all-time high of 452,281 concurrent players on Steam.
Undoubtedly, this is a clear signal from the gaming industry that Call of Duty games are alive and well. A week before the official launch of Warzone 2.0, Activision and Infinity Ward held an in-person event that invited a limited number of Call of Duty streamers to showcase the first official Warzone 2.0 gameplay and DMZ mode.
The massive hype around the new extraction-style DMZ game mode is the main reason for the record-breaking performance achieved by the game. As described by Activision:
The DMZ is a dangerous, varied and deep open world where players can choose their level of intensity. Even in its earliest form, the DMZ is made for the most hardcore finishers: with faction missions, bounties, world events, stash replenishment, helping other units (or creating chaos), hacking locked areas, and more. this living world has something to conquer on the first day.
The DMZ is just land, loot, survival, and exile. However, things are not so simple on the deadly map of Al Mazra; Enemies can be anywhere and you should always be on your guard, protect your prey and loot.
However, after some initial response to the DMZ mode, Infinity Ward has decided to release the DMZ as a launch beta, indicating that this is just the beginning and Call of Duty fans are looking forward to some fun in the future. As Activision says:

In addition, there are many rumors about post-release content for Warzone 2.0 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Some of the rumors suggest a premium DLC pack and a new Rocket League-inspired game mode, CODball, for Modern Warfare 2. Apart from this, Sledgehammer Games also, reportedly working on Premium Call of Duty content for 2023.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 are now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
