Warhammer 40K: Speed Freeks Set to Launch as a Premium Title
Developer Caged Element and publisher Wired Productions have exciting news: Warhammer 40K: Speed Freeks will officially exit early access and make its debut as a full-scale release on May 22, 2025.
A Transformative Journey
Since its inception, Warhammer 40K: Speed Freeks has evolved significantly. Initially introduced as a free-to-play combat racing experience featuring Orks from the Warhammer universe, the game’s structure has undergone substantial changes. Players familiar with the original concept can expect the same wild energy characterized by breakneck speeds and chaotic vehicle combat, but now as part of a premium package.
Free-to-Play Transition and Benefits for Early Players
For those who participated in the earlier free-to-play early access version, there’s good news: you won’t have to pay to access the full release. All players who contributed to the community—totaling 250, 000 participants—will receive automatic upgrades to the premium version at no additional cost.
Moreover, previous microtransactions have been eliminated from the game. If you accrued any premium currency during the early access phase, you will continue to have the ability to utilize that currency for the next 12 months. For new players entering the fray, Speed Freeks will be available for $15.99 USD upon its official launch.
Enhanced Features for 1.0 Launch
The transition to a premium model comes with exciting new features. The 1.0 version will introduce options for player-hosted matches and private games, allowing for a more tailored gaming experience. Additionally, a free roam mode will enable players to explore expansive maps and design custom races, greatly enhancing replayability and engagement.
Director’s Vision for a Unique Experience
In a recent press release, Chris Mallinson, game director for Warhammer 40K: Speed Freeks, shared insights into the game’s development.“We aimed to create the most quintessentially Ork game in the Warhammer 40, 000 universe. Our early access period has benefited from the input of thousands of players, contributing significantly to this vision, ”he noted.
He expressed gratitude toward previous publisher PLAION and welcomed the new collaboration with Wired Productions.“As we transition from early access to our 1.0 launch, our revamped approach will provide players with a fresh experience that we believe they will find both enjoyable and rewarding.”Mallinson also acknowledged the support from Games Workshop, which has been integral to the game’s development.
Stay Tuned for More
With its official release just around the corner, fans of high-octane racing and the Warhammer universe alike are encouraged to mark their calendars for May 22, 2025, and prepare for an exhilarating journey with Warhammer 40K: Speed Freeks.
