Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 Obelisk Update Introduces DLSS 3, FSR 3, and Additional Features

Saber Interactive has officially launched the much-anticipated Obelisk update for Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2, marking version 5.0 of the title. This update introduces a new PvE cooperative Operation called the Obelisk, set on the planet Demerium. As players navigate through the concluding moments of the narrative campaign, they must rotate a replica of an ancient obelisk to disrupt the protective energy coursing through the Aurora device, venturing through ominous tombs to achieve their goal.

In addition to the new Operation, the update also brings a formidable foe into the mix—particularly for battles involving the Thousand Sons faction. Dmitriy Grigorenko, Game Director for Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2, introduced the new adversary:

“The Tzaangor Enlightened is a disk-flying hybrid unit, employing both melee and ranged attacks. These enemies pose a significant threat, especially in groups. However, players can capitalize on their vulnerabilities after a parry or lengthy attack animation. We recommend utilizing Target Lock to effectively engage this enemy.”

The Obelisk update encompasses a variety of enhancements beyond new gameplay elements. PC players can now experience improved performance due to the integration of NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution Frame Generation. Additional refinements include quicker texture streaming, enhanced stability, reduced crash occurrences, and upgrades to the Anti-Cheat system for a smoother gaming experience.

Notably, adjustments to gameplay mechanics have also been made. The damage output for normal melee attacks has seen an increase, while Blocking Weapons have been revamped to allow players to accumulate up to three stacks of melee damage buffs, unleashing a powerful area-of-effect attack. These stacks activate only with perfectly timed blocks, encouraging precise gameplay.

While changes to Firearms have been minimal in this update, Saber has indicated that Patch 7 will bring substantial modifications to the underperforming Weapons Perks. In contrast, Patch 6 will focus on a comprehensive overhaul of Class Perks, targeting those that have not lived up to expectations.

Since its release, Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 has achieved remarkable sales, surpassing five million units across various platforms. With a current promotional offer of 20% off and a thriving community—evidenced by 94% of recent user reviews on Steam being positive—this figure is expected to continue climbing.
