Exciting Details on the Upcoming Warframe Update: Techrot Encore
During their latest livestream event, Digital Extremes unveiled intriguing information about the forthcoming Warframe update titled Techrot Encore, set to launch on March 19. This substantial update will introduce the game’s 60th Warframe, known as Temple.
Unleashing the Power of Temple
Players diving into the role of Temple will experience a unique combat style, characterized by:
- Firing heatwave projectiles.
- Summoning Techrot Subwoofer minions to enhance nearby allies while hindering enemies.
- Performing a Solo of the Century to unleash devastating flame jets.
- Utilizing the sentient Infested guitar, Lizzie, as an Exalted Weapon, capable of launching projectiles and transforming into a flamethrower for a limited duration.
Introducing Four New Protoframes
The update will also introduce four innovative Protoframes:
- Flare (Temple): Designed as the ultimate work of art, Flare aims to transcend traditional concepts of gender and biology.
- Minerva (Saryn) and Velimir II (Frost): Former military lovers who are now the adoptive parents to Major Rusalka, the antagonist from Warframe: 1999.
- Kaya (Nova): Voiced by Juzel Bagabuyo, Kaya is the self-taught engineering prodigy with a fascination for time travel.

New Mission Types Unveiled
The update will also bring forth two exciting mission types. The first, Stage Defense, offers a fresh take on the classic defense missions. In this scenario, players must protect Flare during a memorial concert dedicated to musicians lost in the Scaldra’s oppressive regime. The second mission type, Temporal Archimedea, presents the greatest challenge yet. Teams of players will collaborate with Minerva and Velimir II to complete three randomly selected missions in succession. They can utilize Kaya’s new Peely Pix system to choose upgradeable modifiers, significantly altering how each mission unfolds.
Additionally, a notable development today is the launch of the Open Beta for the Warframe mobile companion app. This app includes enhanced login features through Steam, smooth navigation, and a revamped settings page. Download the app on iOS or Android.
Community Insight from Digital Extremes
Megan Everett, the Director of Community at Digital Extremes, expressed her excitement about the impending milestone:
Warframe will officially turn 12 years old on March 7, a milestone none of us ever thought we would hit when we first started. We want to make sure our players know how thankful we are for them through our content plans this year. Techrot Encore marks not only the first major update of our 12th year but also the biggest ‘echoes’ update we’ve ever made to expand out something like Warframe: 1999. We’re stoked to finally bring our surreal space virus boy band to life and everything that comes with them, so get ready for the party of your lifetimes on March 19!

Updates on Soulframe
In addition to Warframe news, Digital Extremes also provided updates on their upcoming fantasy-themed title, Soulframe. The team discussed enhancements for Preludes (Pre-Alpha Test) players, including two new faction-linked social hubs and a faction-based side-quest system. As a result of new gameplay mechanics, players can now pledge their allegiance to two additional factions: Alca’s Children and Kith of Kings.
The introduction of two unique social Enclave hubs will allow players to engage in new side quests that advance each faction’s objectives. Additionally, the aforementioned new caster weapon type allows players to fire bolts of energy and mislead enemies into believing they are unarmed.
