Digital Extremes Unveils Exciting News at PAX East 2025
At PAX East 2025, Digital Extremes captivated attendees with significant announcements regarding their flagship titles, Warframe and Soulframe. The centerpiece was the upcoming Isleweaver update, set to launch in June, alongside a compelling new trailer for Soulframe. A central focus of the discussion was the company’s initiative to revamp the onboarding process for new players, simplifying their entry into the complex world of Warframe.
Isleweaver Update: A New Chapter in Warframe’s Saga
The Isleweaver update marks the next essential narrative segment in the ongoing Warframe storyline, effectively picking up from the plotlines established in the landmark 1999 update. Players can anticipate a return to the enigmatic Duviri landscape, where they will once again confront the formidable Major Rusalka, along with battling newly introduced Murmur enemies within the clan operation dubbed Eight Claw.
Inside Soulframe: Game Dynamics and Development Insights
The session also featured the latest trailer for Soulframe, highlighting dynamic gameplay elements, including an epic showdown against a new boss, the Tired King. Digital Extremes shared insights into the ongoing development journey for Soulframe. While a formal release date remains unannounced, fans are encouraged to tune in to Tennocon 2025 for further revelations.
Enhancements to Player Experience in Warframe
One of the standout updates during the panel came from principal writer Kathryn Kingsley, who elaborated on the streamlined new player experience. The goal is to expedite new players’ progression to the critical 1999 content, which serves as a foundational element for deeper gameplay experiences.
“One of the things we did was lay out what every new player has to do from account creation to 1999, and just tried to streamline that as much as possible to remove as many trip hazards, ”Kingsley explained.
She added,
“Making sure that all of the content there sort of made sense and make that as friendly as possible… Now that we have so much more content at the end of the game, we’re ensuring everything fits together cohesively.”
Details shared also indicated that major character Vor is due for an overhaul. Additional enhancements include an ongoing refresh of several enemies and a new mechanic allowing players to pick up plants without the need for scanning, which is a welcome change for many.
Moreover, a notable adjustment is being made to melee slams; players will need to jump significantly higher to achieve the same attack radius as before, discouraging the current tendency of spamming melee actions.

Upcoming Developments and What Lies Ahead
All these exciting updates are set to debut in the Isleweaver update in June. This developer stream marks the last major update on Warframe until the highly anticipated Tennocon, scheduled for July 18-19. During this event, players can expect further insights into the future trajectory of both Soulframe and Warframe.
