Warframe: 1999 Launches, Ushering in a New Era for the Franchise
The highly anticipated release of Warframe: 1999 has finally arrived, marking a significant milestone in the beloved gaming franchise. Revealed during The Game Awards, the launch trailer has captivated fans and newcomers alike, showcasing the game’s ambitious new content. After more than a decade of updates, this expansion features a comprehensive Narrative Chapter, complete with an engaging single-player Quest that introduces players to fresh characters for both platonic and romantic interactions.
New Features and Expansive Gameplay
With the introduction of Warframe: 1999, players will have access to the game’s 59th Warframe, known as Cyte-09, as well as four innovative mission types. This update also marks a first in the franchise: fully voiced transforming cosmetic skins, which adds depth and personality to player customization.
Rebecca Ford, Creative Director, expressed her enthusiasm for this daring project, stating, “Our venture into the ‘what if’ Y2K scenario of 1999 has been a passion project for so many of us. We’ve done everything we can to pack this update with romance, music, action, and, most importantly, core Warframe gameplay. I am so proud of what our team has accomplished and even more excited for all the ’90s kids to find all the references we’ve baked in. Thank you to the Warframe community for trusting us for almost 12 years as we take big swings like this.”
Quests and Exploration Opportunities
This update includes exciting quests and exploration areas. Players will bond with six Protoframe members of The Hex while utilizing the newest vehicle mount introduced in the game—the Atomicycle. The expansive new environment, Hollvania City, will feature across four distinct mission types: Relay Races, Legacyte Harvests, Hell-Scrub challenges, and H-09 Efervon Tank Assassination missions.
Notable Voice Talent and Relationship Mechanics
Adding to the immersive experience, the game features returning voice actors, including Amelia Tyler (Baldur’s Gate 3), Ben Starr (Final Fantasy XVI), Nick Apostolides (Resident Evil 4 Remake), and Neil Newbon (Baldur’s Gate 3).
