Viewing Your Android Notification History: A Step-by-Step Guide

Imagine never missing a critical notification again, even after accidentally swiping it away! Android’s **Notification History** feature is specifically designed to help you keep track of your missed notifications. If you’re eager to learn how to enable and use this game-changing feature, you’ve come to the right place.

Step-by-Step Guide to Enable Notification History in Android

Many smartphone manufacturers default to disabling the Notification History feature, even though it’s part of the core Android functionality. If your device is operating on Android 12 or later (like Android 15 on my OnePlus device), you’re in luck! Follow these steps to turn it on:

  • Open the Settings app on your Android device.
  • Navigate to Notifications & Quick Settings.
  • Notification And Quick Settings Android
  • Scroll to find More Settings. On some devices, you may see Advanced Settings or Manage Settings instead.
  • More Notification Settings In Android
  • Select Notification History.

Now, you’ve successfully activated Notification History, which will begin recording your notifications, including any that were previously snoozed!

How to Access Your Notification History in Android

There are several methods to retrieve your Notification History. Here are the top three ways:

  • The quickest way is to swipe down to open the Notification Drawer and tap on History located at the bottom.
  • History In Notification Drawer
  • Another approach is to tap the No Notifications text that appears when you’ve cleared all notifications.
  • No Notification Button
  • Lastly, you can also access it through SettingsNotifications & Quick SettingsMore SettingsNotification History.

Keep in mind that not all devices will have all three options available. For example, my OnePlus doesn’t display the first two options, but they should be accessible on devices that run stock Android.

Using Notification History is an invaluable way to keep track of your alerts, especially if you frequently interact with multiple apps. However, if you’re inundated with notifications, consider exploring ways to block unwanted alerts to streamline your experience.
