VIDEO: Mark Coleman back in gym hitting pads less than a month after horror fire accident, gives update on health
The UFC legend was hospitalized last month after bravely fighting a large house fire in order to rescue his parents at their family home in Fremont, Ohio.
Based on reports, a fire broke out in the kitchen at 4 a.m. and quickly spread throughout the house, trapping the residents inside. Despite the danger, Coleman awoke and bravely ran into the burning house to rescue his elderly parents.
Coleman went back to search for their dog after saving them from the fire. Tragically, the dog was unable to make it out of the burning house. Due to smoke inhalation, Coleman lost consciousness and had to be hospitalized and intubated.
After the gruesome event, Coleman was declared safe and found to be breathing on his own the next day. Fellow UFC veteran Matt Brown first broke the news, stating that Coleman was in much improved condition. This information was later confirmed by Coleman’s daughter, who shared a video on Instagram of him speaking to his family.
On social media, Coleman shared a video of himself exercising on pads at a gym, providing an update on his health. He added a caption to the post:
”I’m feeling pretty good today. My lungs still have a way to go but I’ll get there. The grind never stops. Just keep moving forward. Have a great day everyone and choose to better yourself no matter what. Sober is cool, carnivore diet, 9 ancestral tenets. Hammer house is 4 life.”

It is worth mentioning that ‘The Hammer’ participated in the UFC for more than ten years and achieved great success. In February 1997, he made history by becoming the organization’s first heavyweight champion after submitting Dan Severn in the first round.
Despite starting his career in 1996, Coleman continued to compete until 2010 when he ultimately had to retire due to his advancing age.
