Vicente Luque record: Who was the first fighter to knock out ‘The Silent Assassin’?
Vicente Luque is a highly skilled fighter in the UFC’s welterweight division, excelling both on the ground and on his feet. Additionally, he is known for his fan-pleasing style, as most of his fights result in exciting finishes.
With a record of 22-9-1, ‘The Silent Assassin’ boasts an impressive resume with 11 knockouts and eight submissions under his belt. He has defeated notable names in the division including Tyron Woodley, Michael Chiesa, and Belal Muhammad.
Despite experiencing defeat nine times, the only fight in which he was knocked out was at UFC on ESPN 40 in August 2022 against Geoff Neal.

After being hit with a powerful left hand at the end of a multi-punch combination in the third round, Luque was knocked out by Neal. Due to brain bleeding he sustained during the fight, the 32-year-old was suspended for a minimum of one year.
In August 2023, he made his comeback to the sport and defeated former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos in a unanimous decision.
Despite being ranked No.11 in the 170-pound division, ‘The Silent Assassin’ is still far from securing a title shot. This is due to his lack of victories against any of the top-10 fighters in the division in recent times.
At the upcoming UFC on ESPN 54, the Kill Cliff FC representative is scheduled to take on former middleweight veteran Joaquin Buckley in his next fight.
Vicente Luque’s Concerns Over His Brain Injury and the Future of His Career
Despite suffering a brain bleed in his KO loss to Geoff Neal just a year prior, Vicente Luque made a speedy return to active competition. Nevertheless, his path to recovery was anything but smooth and was riddled with unknowns.
During the media day for his comeback fight against Rafael dos Anjos, ‘The Silent Assassin’ revealed that the injury could potentially have marked the end of his career in fighting.
“I don’t know why [but] in a way I felt like it could happen, just because I’ve never been knocked out and I was hit a lot and Geoff hits hard… So they [the doctors] told me [about the injury] and I was like okay, what do we have to do?… at that point I was kind of like relaxed and I was confident that I was going to get better and that was it. Then days after that… that’s when they told me, ‘Hey now we’re going to do all these tests and see if you can fight again.’ That got me worried.”
