VESA Unveils DP80LL UHBR20 Cables at CES with Triple Length Compared to Standard DP80 Cables

At the upcoming CES event, the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) will demonstrate innovative advancements with their DP80LL cables, highlighting the DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 interface’s capabilities. These developments are set to significantly enhance visual quality and refresh rates for both GPUs and high-end monitors.

Introducing DP80LL Cables: Longer and Better Performance

VESA, a leader in establishing display technology standards, is set to upgrade its DP80 cables to the new “DP80LL”(Low Loss) variant, which boasts extended lengths of up to three meters. This enhancement allows for the transmission of ultra-high-bit-rate (UHBR) data at an impressive rate of 20 Gbps per lane.

The UHBR20 standard can potentially deliver up to 80 Gbps across four lanes. However, cable length has historically impacted data integrity. Currently, only the shorter one-meter DP80 cables ensure low-loss data transfer at this bandwidth for connected displays. The new DP80LL cables will bridge this gap, enabling reliable data transfer over a distance of three meters.
