“Very Hunger Games”: Jaguar Wright Claims Kendrick Lamar vs Drake Rap Battle Was Staged for Super Bowl Halftime Show

Jaguar Wright posited that the ongoing rivalry between Kendrick Lamar and Drake was orchestrated to determine who would headline the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, drawing parallels to the famous feud between Tupac and Biggie in the 1990s.

On September 8, the NFL, in conjunction with Roc Nation and Apple Music, announced Kendrick Lamar as the official headliner for the Super Bowl LIX halftime show scheduled for February 9, 2025, set to take place in New Orleans. While many fans expressed their excitement, others argued that Lil Wayne, a beloved local artist, was more deserving of this honor.

During an episode of The Blue Couch podcast, released on October 8, 2024, Wright asserted that the entire conflict between Lamar and Drake was a prearranged event designed to secure the prime gig for Kendrick.

She went on to accuse Jay-Z, head of Roc Nation, of selecting Kendrick intentionally, despite his previous commitment to ensure the 2025 Super Bowl would be a “Louisiana affair,”a nod to Lil Wayne’s roots.

Referring to Jay-Z as the “set-up king,”Wright suggested that this decision was made as a strategic move to exhibit Jay-Z’s influence following the legal troubles faced by Sean “Diddy”Combs. Diddy was apprehended on September 16, 2024, facing multiple charges including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for the purpose of prostitution.

In her comments (shared via @AkademiksTV on X), she remarked:

“Everyone knows that Shawn Carter, in the background, promised the South that the next Super Bowl would celebrate Louisiana. And then, when Diddy finds himself in trouble and you need to reassure the white audience that you remain in charge, you go with Kendrick Lamar.”

Wright labeled the discord between Kendrick and Drake as “social engineering,”even likening it to a narrative from The Hunger Games. The conversation unfolded as follows:

Jaguar Wright: Social engineering. Creating a problem that didn’t need to be a problem.

To support her belief in social engineering, Wright referenced the tragic events surrounding two legendary rappers, Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls, who were central figures in the notorious East Coast vs. West Coast hip-hop rivalry during the 90s and were both murdered in separate drive-by shootings within a short timeframe.

According to Wright, the conflict between Drake and Kendrick mirrors the Biggie and Tupac rivalry, which culminated in the tragic deaths of both icons of hip-hop.

“Imagine if the same grim fate that befell Biggie and Tupac were to befall Drake and Kendrick. Given Drake’s current situation, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone out there wants to silence him. If you think Diddy is tumultuous, know that Drake was being positioned to take the lead,”she expressed.

Piers Morgan Issues Apology Following Jaguar Wright’s Claims About Jay-Z and Beyoncé

Wright’s recent appearance on Piers Morgan’s show, Uncensored, aired on October 2, 2024, wherein she made grave accusations regarding Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

“For four years, I’ve been declaring that not just Diddy but both Diddy and Jay-Z are monsters,” she claimed, adding that both Jay-Z and Beyoncé had numerous victims.

On Tuesday (October 8), Piers Morgan announced during his show that he had received communication from the attorneys representing Jay-Z and Beyoncé, asserting that the allegations were unfounded and lacked evidence.

“Jaguar unexpectedly made several serious claims about Jay-Z and Beyoncé during that interview. At the time, I mentioned they weren’t present to respond; however, they have since reached out. Their lawyers contacted us to inform us that these statements are entirely erroneous and devoid of factual basis. Consequently, we’ve complied with a legal request to edit them out of the initial interview,”Morgan informed viewers.

He concluded the announcement with a heartfelt apology, stating:

“Editing segments is not a decision we make lightly in a show like Uncensored, but just as the old saying goes about fire in a crowded theater, there are legal boundaries for us as well. We owe Jay-Z and Beyoncé an apology.”

The British journalist subsequently took action to censor parts of the episode related to the matter.
