Google’s latest headphones finally have ANC, spatial audio coming later this year.

The Pixel Buds Pro headphones , announced at Google I/O 2022, are the latest version of the branded headphones. Unlike last year’s affordable Pixel Buds A-Series, the headphones cost $199.

They come with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which Google has created with a 6-core audio chip running its own algorithms. The earphones contain sensors that measure pressure in the ear canal to ensure that wearing them for extended periods of time does not become uncomfortable. To ensure that high, mid and low frequencies are always balanced, the volume equalizer adjusts the setting according to the loudness. Spatial audio support will be added later this year, the blog post says.

Pixel Buds Pro have multipoint connectivity so they will automatically switch connections between different devices if the environment changes. This can come in handy if you use them on your laptop and suddenly go out for a walk.

There’s also a transparency mode that lets ambient sound through if one wants to be aware of their surroundings. The headphones can withstand rain and sweat as they are IPX4 waterproof. The case is protected from water according to the IPX2 standard. They come in four colors: Coral, Lemongrass, Fog and Charcoal.

Finally, the battery can be charged wirelessly, giving you 11 hours of listening time. With ANC enabled, the headphones can be used for up to 7 hours. They will be available for pre-order starting July 21st. To find out if they will be available in your country, and for more product updates, click here .
