US Senator Roasted for Claiming Galactic Empire Sent Drones Over New Jersey: “Somehow, Palpatine Returned”

In an unbelievable moment, we find ourselves questioning the awareness of our elected officials. Recently, a U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania has taken to Twitter, mistaking a TIE fighter for an actual drone spotted over New Jersey. Yes, you read that right—a TIE fighter from the iconic Star Wars saga.

Reports have emerged about unidentified drones flying over New Jersey, prompting confusion among residents and observers alike. Notably absent is a sense of urgency or concern, leading many to joke about this unusual scenario. Unfortunately, the humor seems to have escaped the attention of some politicians.

Senator Doug Mastriano shared an image on social media, claiming to showcase a “crashed drone”discovered at Orange Beach. Upon closer inspection, it was clear that what he posted was, in fact, a fictional spacecraft—a TIE fighter, not a drone. Mastriano began his post by expressing disbelief at the federal government’s inaction regarding the situation with the unidentified drones, stating, “It is inconceivable that the federal government has no answers nor has taken any action to get to the bottom of the unidentified drones.” Little did he know, the object he referred to is purely from the Star Wars universe.

The online reaction to Mastriano’s tweet ranged from playful Star Wars references to genuine bewilderment about whether he truly did not recognize the iconic starship. Critics have taken to social media, questioning if he has been living under a rock since 1977. Given that Mastriano has been around longer than the franchise itself, one would assume he has encountered a TIE fighter before, especially considering their ubiquity in merchandise.

This lack of knowledge raises broader questions about competence within some parts of the Republican party. As they often see themselves as a modern-day Rebel Alliance battling against an oppressive Empire, it’s perplexing how this misconception persists when they can’t even identify a cultural reference.

Yet Another Elected Official Misunderstands Star Wars

Time after time, many within the MAGA movement draw parallels to the Rebel Alliance’s struggle against the Galactic Empire. This Empire is traditionally seen as a force exerting control over all, akin to how they perceive certain political figures and policies. However, the irony in their self-identification as rebels is nothing short of baffling.

Moreover, the incident where Mastriano mistook a TIE fighter for a drone adds a humorous yet disconcerting twist to the narrative. One can only wonder what absurd statement might come next—perhaps a conspiracy theorist claiming the moon is a colossal ship with planet-destroying technology. Surely, it wouldn’t be shocking to see figures like Marjorie Taylor Greene demanding the arrest of Han Solo for his infamous duel with Greedo!

To Senator Mastriano: the object you posted about is a fictional vehicle used by the Imperial pilots in the Star Wars universe. We do not possess the technology to pilot such crafts, but if we did, many of us would be eagerly searching for our own Millennium Falcon for a chance to escape to the stars—if only we could find a loyal Wookiee companion over seven feet tall to join us on our adventures!
