Update 1.5.2 Now Available for Star Wars Outlaws

Overview of Recent Developments

  • Star Wars Outlaws has received a new patch aimed at enhancing graphics and performance across all platforms.
  • This update, which is relatively minor on PC, addresses fog and cloud rendering issues while fixing photo mode crashes for PS5 users.
  • A known bug affecting space travel is acknowledged, with a resolution expected in a future update.

Massive Entertainment recently launched a patch for Star Wars Outlaws on every gaming platform. Hailed as the first-ever open-world Star Wars title, it was released in August 2023 and initially garnered significant hype. However, the game has sparked debate among players, particularly due to its pronounced focus on stealth mechanics, which some found less appealing.

In spite of Star Wars Outlaws’ mixed reviews after its debut, Ubisoft remains dedicated to regular updates and downloadable content (DLC).Notably, the Sabaac-centered Wild Card DLC was discreetly made available in November, with plans for a subsequent expansion titled A Pirate’s Fortune slated for this Spring. A significant improvement from earlier patches was the removal of the instant fail condition during stealth missions, catering to those who prefer a more aggressive playstyle.

Details on Title Update 1.5.2

As part of its ongoing roadmap, Massive Entertainment rolled out Title Update 1.5.2, which is a compact update across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms. This patch, weighing just a few gigabytes, focuses on specific fixes:

Graphics Improvements (PC)

  • Resolved the black outline issue around Kay in foggy environments when Ray Reconstruction is enabled.
  • Corrected graphical inconsistencies and outlines in volumetric fog and clouds under similar settings.

Performance Enhancements (PS5)

  • Addressed a crash issue occurring in Photo Mode on PlayStation 5.

Interestingly, the patch notes for Title Update 1.5.2 do not specify any fixes for the Xbox version, even though it is larger, at approximately 4 GB. Additionally, Massive Entertainment has acknowledged another issue whereby players cannot initiate space travel using Kay’s ship, The Trailblazer. A fix for this problem is anticipated in a future patch. As a temporary solution, players can reload a manual save to bypass this issue.

As Star Wars Outlaws approaches the completion of its current Season Pass roadmap, the next major content drop is the A Pirate’s Fortune DLC, though no official release date has been disclosed by Ubisoft or Massive Entertainment. Players are encouraged to check Star Wars Outlaws’ social media channels for updates. There is speculation that the roadmap may be extended as the game’s one-year anniversary approaches in August.
