Raven Software has revealed that significant weapon balance adjustments are set to arrive in Call of Duty: Warzone, affecting both the XM4 Assault Rifle and the PPSh-41 SMG. This first balance update of February is poised to impact the current game meta, especially if the changes favor these two weapons.
The launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 alongside Warzone Season 2 on January 28 introduced exciting new elements, including fresh maps, weapons, and various in-game events. Among the new additions is the PPSh-41 SMG, a fan favorite from Call of Duty: World at War, which maintains its rapid fire rate and exceptional mobility, ensuring it remains a formidable choice in loadouts when coupled with the right attachments and perks. The XM4 Assault Rifle, known for its quick firing and manageable handling, pairs seamlessly with the PPSh-41, making it a favored selection in the Season 2 lineup.
According to a message from Raven Software via their official Twitter account, players can expect to see these weapon adjustments implemented “early”in the week of February 3. This suggests we may receive the update as soon as Monday. The developers have indicated they will closely monitor the launch of Season 2 as they finalize these adjustments; however, it remains to be seen what form the changes will take—buffs or nerfs. Patch notes detailing these updates are anticipated to be published on Raven Software’s Trello board, likely coinciding with the release of the changes.

The community is rife with theories about the expected changes to the XM4 and PPSh-41. Some players speculate that adjustments may include a reduction in the muzzle flash and smoke effects of the PPSh-41 to enhance visibility while aiming with the standard iron sights. Others have voiced their desires, suggesting a decrease in magazine sizes for the XM4 and improved handling characteristics for the PPSh-41. Additionally, ongoing audio issues related to gameplay on Rebirth Island have been a topic of discussion among the player base.

In addition to these enhancements, players can anticipate an exciting crossover event between Call of Duty and The Terminator, running from February 6 to 20. During this event, players can earn rewards by collecting skulls from kills in both Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone. If the weapon balance adjustments come at the start of the week, players will have ample time to fine-tune their XM4 and PPSh-41 loadouts in preparation for this thrilling event.
