Upcoming Minecraft Update Enhances Copper Utility with New Tools, Weapons, Armor, and Golem

Exciting New Copper Features Coming to Minecraft

Mojang has made impressive strides in enhancing the Minecraft experience this year, embracing a strategy centered on incremental updates. Just weeks after launching the Chase the Skies update alongside an extensive graphics overhaul known as Vibrant Visuals, the development team has exciting new content on the horizon.

Focus on Copper: A Game-Changing Metal

While the upcoming update is yet to be officially named, it appears to be predominantly focused on enriching the uses of Copper within the game. Currently, players can mine Copper ore more easily than Iron, yet its functionalities are limited to decorative items and spyglasses.

Introducing Copper Equipment

One of the key highlights of this update is the introduction of a new equipment tier made from Copper. This means players will soon be able to craft tools, weapons, and armor with this versatile metal, offering a significant advantage for early-game survival.

Mojang specifies that “its durability sits somewhere between stone and iron, ” indicating a balanced performance for crafted items such as a Copper pickaxe. This tool will allow players to mine quicker and for a longer duration compared to stone pickaxes, though higher-tier materials will still necessitate an upgrade to Iron tools for more advanced mining capabilities.

Meet the Copper Golem

In addition to new equipment, the upcoming update introduces the Copper Golem, a new mob that players can create using a carved pumpkin in conjunction with a Copper block. Originally a contestant during a previous mob vote, the Copper Golem’s primary function is to assist players by organizing items in their inventories, especially when paired with the new Copper Chests.

The new features from the third Game Drop of 2025 are currently available for testing in an experimental format through the Minecraft Preview 1.21.100.23 update for the Bedrock Edition. For a detailed overview of all changes, check out the complete changelog here.
