The storyline of My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s revolves around Akira Oda, an average boy whose existence tends to be overlooked. He, along with his classmates, is unexpectedly transported to a fantasy realm where he is bestowed with the role of an assassin, accompanied by surprisingly high attributes. As he navigates this new environment, Akira encounters numerous inconsistencies and soon uncovers a nefarious plot, ultimately becoming adversarial with the very king who summoned him.

The novel, crafted by Matsuri Akai and accompanied by illustrations from Tozai, began serialization on the Shousetsuka ni Narou platform in January 2017 before being officially published by Overlap the following November. The manga adaption, helmed by Hiroyuki Aigamo, commenced on Overlap’s Comic Gardo site in July 2018 and has seen a combined circulation of over 1.5 million copies (both print and digital).Seven Seas Entertainment handles the English licensing for both the light novel and the manga.
This upcoming anime is being developed by Sunrise, featuring Nobuyoshi Habara (known for Negima!) as the chief director, with scriptwriting by Kunihiko Okada (Yowamushi Pedal Glory Line).The music is composed by Satoshi Igarashi (Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!), character designs by Hirona Okada and Kaori Saito, and animation supervision from veteran Mitsuru Ishihara.
As for the voice cast, Takeo Otsuka lends his voice to Akira Oda, while Saku Mizuno portrays Amelia Rosequartz.
