In 2024, Dungeons & Dragons commemorated its 50th anniversary while simultaneously launching two new core rulebooks. Yet, as we look ahead to 2025, the momentum shows no signs of slowing down. Kicking off this exciting year are fresh releases, including an updated Monster Manual set to launch in February. The assortment of upcoming books promises to keep gaming tables engaged over the next several months, refreshing familiar D&D traditions while also introducing innovative elements to the 5e system.
The roadmap for D&D’s releases initially unveiled in August 2024 has since evolved. A recent February press briefing at Wizards of the Coast offices shared insights that some anticipated releases had not been included in the original lineup. Among these is a sourcebook revisiting the Eberron setting, which will reintroduce the Artificer class, while another unnamed title keeps fans guessing. Importantly, there are currently no long-form campaign books scheduled for 2025; however, this absence offers a chance for creative DMs to fill that narrative void. Wizards has clearly indicated that the pace of campaign book publications will remain generally slower in the near future.
Monster Manual – February 18, 2025
D&D’s Comprehensive Creature Guide

The long-awaited revision of the Monster Manual, set for release on February 18, will complete the trilogy of core rulebook updates that began in 2024. This newest edition remains compatible with a decade’s worth of D&D content, ensuring that challenge ratings for returning monsters remain unchanged. However, expect notable adjustments to abilities and health, which will change the dynamics of combat.
Particularly noteworthy is the elevation of higher-level challenges, which will receive enhancements across the board, including the introduction of over 85 new creatures. Fans can gain early access to this hefty tome two weeks ahead of launch on February 4th with a Master Tier D&D Beyond subscription or by purchasing it through select local game retailers, a trend likely to continue with future releases.
Dragon Delves – July 8, 2025
Ten Short Adventures Featuring Iconic Dragons

Originally dubbed “Dragon Anthology, ”the Dragon Delves anthology, slated for release on July 8, spotlights D&D’s most legendary dragons. This compilation presents ten short adventures, each dedicated to one of the game’s diverse chromatic and metallic dragon types, showcasing unique artistry and narrative tones that reflect the essence of each creature.
In addition to serving as an adventure anthology, Dragon Delves also builds on concepts introduced in the 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide, providing DMs with streamlined points for quickly launching into gripping stories.
Eberron: Forge Of The Artificer – August 19, 2025
Returning to the Eccentric World of Eberron

After introducing the Eberron setting to fifth edition through Eberron: Rising from the Last War in 2019, D&D is set to launch Eberron: Forge of the Artificer on August 19, 2025. This supplement is not just a sequel but also aims to update the Artificer subclass while delivering additional content in a fresh format that diverges from previous 5e releases, although specifics remain undisclosed.
Heroes Of The Borderlands Starter Set – September 16, 2025
An Accessible Entry Point for New Players

Targeted at newcomers, the Heroes of the Borderlands starter set will represent the first release following 2024’s rules revisions designed to facilitate easier entry into D&D. This set revisits the nostalgic Keep on the Borderlands, incorporating new mechanics and innovative teaching methods as well as a character creation process that promises to be faster than past approaches (apart from pre-generated options).
Untitled D&D Release – October 2025
Unraveling the October Enigma

Although the original 2025 release schedule didn’t hint at any Eberron content for October, recent updates do indicate a mystery title set to debut that month. The precise nature of this release remains unknown, raising intriguing questions about Wizards’ motives for keeping it under wraps. It seems the company may have chosen to maintain focus on other forthcoming titles, which, coupled with the air of mystery surrounding it, suggests that October’s offering could be something noteworthy.
Forgotten Realms Player’s Guide & Adventure Guide – November 11, 2025
Explore D&D 5e’s Central Setting

On November 11, 2025, D&D will unveil two significant titles focused on the Forgotten Realms, delivering a wealth of new content split across both releases. The Player’s Guide will introduce eight new subclasses, while the Adventure Guide is designed primarily as a resource for DMs, breaking from the norm where setting books typically intertwine additional player options.
This separation allows the Adventure Guide to delve deeper into five focal areas of the Forgotten Realms: Baldur’s Gate, Calimshan, the Dalelands, Icewind Dale, and the Moonshae Isles. Each of these settings promises to cater to diverse fantasy adventures, featuring artwork that, akin to the Dragon Delves, varies significantly across locations.
Jeremy Crawford has hinted that the Forgotten Realms books will contain elements that will “delight”fans of Baldur’s Gate 3.
While not every upcoming D&D release will resonate with every player or DM, the noticeable shift away from traditional campaign books may elicit mixed feelings for some. Nonetheless, the diverse lineup should offer compelling content to captivate most adventuring parties. The mystery surrounding the untitled October release remains an intriguing prospect, but the year ahead looks promising for D&D enthusiasts regardless.
