When the existence of multiple universes was introduced in the Dragon Ball franchise, fans were thrilled by the vast storytelling possibilities it presented. The initial excitement came with Champa, the God of Destruction for Universe 6 and Beerus’s twin brother, who proposed a tournament to determine the location of Planet Earth.
Before this tournament commenced, a major reveal surfaced: Saiyans existed in Universe 6 but were significantly different from their Universe 7 counterparts. Unlike the Saiyans of Universe 7, who are often portrayed as conquerors, Universe 6 Saiyans lived on Planet Sadala, which had not been devastated by civil war. These Saiyans functioned as protectors of various planets rather than ruthless warriors, intriguing both Goku, Vegeta, and the fanbase.

Fast forward to the Tournament of Power, where Goku and Vegeta encounter Universe 6 Saiyans once again. During this arc, a mentor-student relationship blossomed between Vegeta and Cabba, culminating in Vegeta’s promise to save Universe 6 if he triumphed in the tournament and to visit them one day. Following Android 17’s victory, he wished for the revival of all erased universes, including Universe 6, thereby opening the path for potential exploration of the Saiyans’ homeworld.
This storyline offers a perfect opportunity for character development, especially for Vegeta, who holds a deeper connection to Universe 6 than Goku. Observing Universe 6 Saiyans living in peace would provide a fresh perspective for these characters and possibly shift their philosophies, emphasizing the value of preparation while contrasting with the Universe 6 Saiyans’ guardianship mindset.
Surrender is an outcome far worse than defeat. I won’t tolerate that kind of weak behavior from a Saiyan!
Furthermore, the arc would afford fans the chance to see the return of several beloved characters, including Hit. Despite Hit’s potential, his narrative has remained largely unexplored. A dedicated storyline set in Universe 6 would be the ideal environment to delve into his backstory and motivations.
Navigating Power Scaling Challenges
Defining Strength Standards

While the Universe 6 arc is an exciting prospect, power scaling remains a significant issue to address. Since the Tournament of Power, disparities in character strength have substantially widened, particularly with new transformations experienced by the Z-Fighters. Even Jiren, a powerhouse, was outmatched by the Z-Fighters’ newfound strengths.
This power gap poses a challenge, as Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Broly, and Piccolo are exponentially stronger than during their tournament appearances due to their transformations. Although Universe 6 characters have also presumably grown stronger, they may not reach the same competitive levels as their Universe 7 counterparts, especially considering their less threatening environment.
I’ll try to make myself stronger, just like you!
However, Dragon Ball has a history of introducing new elements that reshape power dynamics. It’s plausible that Universe 6 fighters could receive significant power boosts, or the Z-Fighters’ abilities might be recalibrated to create a more balanced playing field. Regardless, the Universe 6 arc promises to be a compelling storyline upon the anticipated return of the series.
Dragon Ball can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
