Marvel Rivals continues to generate excitement among fans, thanks to numerous leaks and rumors hinting at an intriguing roster of playable characters. As players await the introduction of The Thing and Human Torch during Season 1, there is anticipation about which new heroes could join in upcoming seasons. While developers have confirmed that subsequent seasons will feature fewer new additions compared to the initial one, two characters from the Marvel universe—Drax and Gamora—seem poised for an imminent reveal.
The focus of Season 1 is firmly on The Fantastic Four, yet another iconic Marvel team—the Guardians of the Galaxy—deserves a closer look. Currently, players can enjoy characters like Star-Lord, Mantis, Groot, Rocket, and Adam Warlock, but the absence of Drax and Gamora stands out. Their inclusion would complete the Guardians roster, especially within a season dedicated to the beloved team.
Will Marvel Rivals Expand the Guardians of the Galaxy Roster with Drax and Gamora?

The popularity of the Guardians soared after their portrayal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making it surprising that Drax and Gamora are not yet part of the game. Interesting pieces of dialogue hint at their future roles; for instance, Star-Lord asks Black Panther about the whereabouts of Drax and Gamora, expressing his determination to reunite with them. This mention signifies their potential arrival, particularly in the context of the game’s overarching story involving Doctor Doom’s Timestream Entanglement.
Integrating Drax and Gamora into the Marvel Rivals Gameplay
The inclusion of Drax and Gamora would bolster the narrative depth of Marvel Rivals while diversifying the gameplay. Gamora could be designed as a Duelist, much like her portrayal as a fierce combatant, but she might also present abilities reflecting her strategic mind. Similar to Mr. Fantastic’s dual-role as a Vanguard and Duelist, Gamora could blend melee capabilities with supportive skills, offering buffs drawn from her past association with the Infinity Stones.
Additionally, the game could introduce Cosmo the Space Dog alongside Jeff the Landshark. However, unlike Drax and Gamora, Cosmo has yet to be mentioned in-game, indicating a more immediate potential for the former duo. Drax’s character, revived by the Eternal Kronos, can serve as a durable Vanguard capable of tanking damage while providing shield abilities akin to Magneto’s Metal Bulwark, enhancing his role further.
Bringing Drax and Gamora into the lineup would facilitate new synergy for Team-Ups, expanding tactical options for players eager to optimize their squads in competitive play. Their arrival could invigorate the gameplay experience, tapping into a beloved aspect of Marvel’s legacy.
