The search for a new sixth Ranger became imperative, particularly to combat the menacing Lord Zedd. However, given the immense popularity of the Zyuranger costumes, a total replacement was off the table.
The character upon whom the White Ranger was based, Kou of the Howling New Star, known as KibaRanger, is notably a nine-year-old boy who receives powers and joins the Dairanger team. Consequently, only select scenes from Dairanger were adapted into Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. This included not just Zords and monsters but also crucially, the KibaRanger’s costume design and associated action scenes, allowing for the creation of the White Ranger persona. It’s intriguing to note how seamlessly the White Ranger blended with the styles of his Mighty Morphin teammates, despite hailing from entirely different source material.

Among fans, the White Ranger is often considered more powerful than the Green Ranger, thanks to his distinctive design that felt intuitively fresh even in the context of Mighty Morphin.
