Windows Latest has unveiled exclusive details regarding Lenovo’s latest innovation: the ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept. This cutting-edge device is set to be showcased at CES 2026, building upon the foundation laid by the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable AI PC, albeit with a distinct approach.
This new concept features a vertically expanding display that can shift from a compact 13.3-inch format to a more expansive 16-inch version, a departure from the horizontal expansion seen in the Legion Pro Rollable aimed at gamers.
One of the standout features of the ThinkPad Rollable XD is its innovative Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 transparent back cover, which enhances the visual experience by showcasing the OLED display even when rolled inwards. This unique implementation is referred to as a world-facing display and an expanding user-facing screen by Lenovo.
Key Features of the ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept at CES 2026
While specific display specifications remain under wraps, early reports highlight that the device’s default compact mode at 13.3 inches is notably smaller than the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable’s 14-inch configuration. However, the new ThinkPad Rollable XD is designed to effortlessly expand vertically to a 16-inch workspace, providing over 50% more screen real estate for users, even though it remains slightly smaller—0.7 inches—than its counterpart.

The ThinkPad Rollable XD’s innovative design integrates a transparent glass cover, moving away from the prior aluminum aesthetic seen in its predecessor. Reliable sources indicate that the device features a flexible OLED display which can be curved or rolled behind the transparent glass, enhancing its modern appeal.
Lenovo, in collaboration with Corning, has developed this 180-degree Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 cover that not only guarantees durability but also reveals the intricate workings of the device’s rollable screen.
A significant advantage of this transparent covering lies in its ability to display information from the inward-facing rolled screen, making it a glimpse into Lenovo’s vision of contextual intelligent devices.

The display, currently visible in promotional materials, is capable of showcasing a variety of information, such as Lenovo’s AI chatbot and calendar notifications, facilitating new forms of multitasking and collaboration.
It should be noted that the exposed section of the display is part of the overall 16-inch flexible OLED screen, which would have been concealed without the transparent glass cover.
In terms of usability, early indications suggest that the ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept will support swipe and touch gestures alongside voice controls for app launching and mode switching. Similar to the Lenovo Legion Pro Rollable, users can also anticipate AI-driven features, such as live translation and voice-activated assistance, with multimodal interactions possible even when the device is closed.

Lenovo aims to position the ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept as an essential tool for professionals seeking to unlock new workflows or display digital signage as needed. It is expected to operate on Windows 11, but details about the specific version remain undisclosed.
While pricing remains speculative, given that the previous Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable retails for $3, 299.00, the upcoming ThinkPad variant, as a concept, will likely command an even higher price point.
