Unveiling The Blood of Dawnwalker: Stunning Trailer and Exclusive In-Game Preview of the Open World RPG

Rebel Wolves Unveils “The Blood of Dawnwalker”: A Captivating Open World RPG

Last night, Polish game development studio Rebel Wolves officially revealed their first project, an open world role-playing game titled The Blood of Dawnwalker. During a live-streamed event, fans had the opportunity to delve deeper into the game’s features, view an impressive CGI trailer, and even catch a glimpse of in-game footage.

A Promising New Studio

Founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the former director of The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, Rebel Wolves has steadily gained momentum since its establishment three years ago. After procuring significant investment from NetEase, the studio has partnered with Bandai Namco to publish their inaugural title.

Setting and Storyline

The narrative of The Blood of Dawnwalker unfolds in the darkly atmospheric setting of 14th-century Carpathia, within the fictional region of Vale Lenora. While the game is not classified as high fantasy, it certainly incorporates magical and supernatural elements drawn from dark fantasy traditions. The plot kicks off during the devastating onset of the Black Plague when a cadre of formidable vampires emerges, intent on overthrowing feudal lords to claim Vale Lenora. Led by the ancient and powerful vampire Brencis, this terrifying faction promises safety to the beleaguered populace—albeit at a terrifying cost involving regular blood sacrifices.

Introducing Protagonist Coen

The CGI trailer offers a gripping introduction to Coen, the game’s protagonist, as he confronts vampires who intervene during a horrific moment when human lords are about to execute his sister, who is afflicted with the plague. In a shocking twist, the vampires opt to spare and heal her using their blood, a choice that does not turn her into one of their kind.

The gameplay begins two years post this pivotal event. Coen has undergone a transformation of his own—due to argyria from silver poisoning while working in mines, he possesses some vampiric traits but remains vulnerable, allowing him to navigate the human world by day.

Dynamic Gameplay Mechanics

Players can expect a dual gameplay loop representing day and night cycles. During daylight hours, Coen will engage in combat like a human, although he can access certain magical abilities he acquires throughout the journey. As night falls, he gains access to his unique vampire powers, providing a strategic layer to combat against not only vampires but various other supernatural entities including undead, Kobolds, and strange creatures known as uriashes.

Choices and Consequences

As an open world RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker grants players the flexibility to forge alliances or adversarial relationships with different characters, a crucial aspect for those looking to dismantle Brencis’s reign and rescue Coen’s family. However, players face a ticking clock—only 30 in-game days and nights are available to succeed in their quests. This limitation adds urgency and depth, as not every story arc can be fully explored in a single playthrough. Furthermore, players must keep a close eye on blood hunger; neglecting this mechanic may weaken Coen in battle or lead to catastrophic outcomes, such as harming allies and jeopardizing quests.

Looking Ahead

This ambitious project, powered by Unreal Engine 5, promises an engaging and intricate gaming experience. The complete gameplay reveal is scheduled for this Summer, though a specific release date has yet to be announced. Players can look forward to experiencing The Blood of Dawnwalker on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X.
