The Middle Eastern adaptation of the hit Netflix reality series, Love is Blind Habibi, premiered on October 10, offering all nine episodes for viewers to binge-watch at once on the streaming service.
Among the numerous eligible bachelors was Simo, who sought enduring love and even got engaged to Hajar during his time in the pods. He progressed to the next stage of the competition, which featured a getaway at a luxurious resort in Dubai.
Before leaving the pods, Simo clashed with Chafic after he made a remark about the fragrance Nour had gifted Chafic, calling it foolish. Simo’s comment provoked Chafic, who accused him of jealousy for not having received gifts. The tension escalated further during the couple’s mixer in episode 4, where Simo commented on Chafic’s history, leading to another significant confrontation. He also had issues with his top match, Yasmine, feeling undervalued, while his fiancée Hajar voiced her disagreements on various subjects. Fans took to social media to voice their disapproval of Simo’s frequent disputes.
I realized something was off with Simo when he managed to argue with five women within the first minute,”one viewer noted.
“Honestly, Simo resembles a Disney villain. What was the need to insult Nour’s perfume?”another user remarked.
“Simo is incredibly rude; who goes around smelling books and then mocks a woman’s perfume?”another commenter added.
“Everyone has their flaws, but Simo, what’s going on with you? The number of your flaws is concerning!”another fan expressed.
Several viewers highlighted Simo’s interaction style with the women on the show.
“Watching Simo speak to these women makes me apprehensive about being alone with him,”one user commented.
“The way Simo addresses these ladies is appalling. He’s such a terrible person. I hope he ends this journey single!”another user said.
“Simo is truly deplorable. How can he be upset with a woman for engaging with other guys while he does the same?”another criticized.
“Simo is hands down the most intimidating Moroccan I have come across. He really needs to be evaluated,”another social media user remarked.
Despite the backlash, some followers articulated support for Simo’s stance during specific moments on the show.
“I somewhat agree with Simo regarding the waitress incident. Why would Hajar take pride in being rude? What’s wrong with the upbringing around here?”one user stated.
“I get that Simo can be overdramatic, but he was correct to tell Chafic that Nour’s book was a gift and not a topic of conversation. I’m starting to resonate with him more; he’s genuine,”another user commented.
Key Conflicts Involving Simo from Love is Blind Habibi
A particularly heated argument involving Simo and Chafic occurred in episode 4. Simo revealed to Dounia, “Some individuals from the pods were already familiar with each other,”hinting at Chafic’s previous connection with Nour, and claimed it was common knowledge.
This comment upset Dounia, as it compromised her trust in Chafic, making her believe she was the sole person unaware of Chafic’s earlier relationship with Nour. Though Chafic had previously mentioned his Instagram chats with Nour to Dounia, Simo’s remarks during a private discussion caused her to feel misled.
Unbeknownst to Dounia was that Simo had only just learned of Chafic’s connection with Nour. The confrontation escalated, culminating in Simo threatening to physically confront Chafic while others tried to separate them.
Simo also experienced tension with Yasmine in episode 3, expressing frustration over her interactions with other pod members, which made him feel disregarded. Yasmine later confided in a confession that she felt his reaction was toxic, stating it had raised her temper.
During a vacation date with Hajar in episode 4, Simo took offense when she requested a waitress to return their food, deeming it rude. He left the situation in anger.
Later on in the episode, he chastised Hajar for not being able to hang out with her friends alone, insisting she should show respect towards him. Another clash arose when Hajar cleaned Nour’s dress; Simo requested Nour to turn around so he could inspect the dress and then accused Hajar of lying after not spotting any stains. Hajar argued she previously cleaned it.
In episode 5, Hajar learned that Simo had departed the retreat. During a confessional, Simo expressed his displeasure that Hajar didn’t defend him in his altercation with Chafic, prompting his exit.
