For fans of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza>, finding efficient ways to navigate the stunning islands of Hawaii is essential—especially when you’re not adventuring alongside the Goro Pirates. One standout option for rapid traversal is the Street Surfer.
This tool will feel familiar to players of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. While your early exploration will involve some footwork, acquiring the Street Surfer is straightforward and enhances your travel experience significantly.
In this guide, we’ll delve into how to unlock the Street Surfer and explore its exciting customization possibilities that come with your adventure in Pirate Yakuza.
Unlocking and Customizing the Street Surfer
Your journey in Hawaii starts with reinforcing the Goromaru ship for the upcoming battles at the Madlantis Pirate Coliseum. Initially, your focus will be on seeking out skilled mechanics to enhance your vessel.
Once you’ve made sufficient progress, you’ll activate a cutscene by the beach, where Noah spots a Street Surfer passing by. This leads to a reunion with Oka, a developer from Infinite Wealth, who reintroduces this traversal gadget to Majima.
After this initial encounter, you can return to the beach area to recruit Oka, inviting him to join Majima’s crew of Goro Pirates.
Following a brief trial with the Street Surfer, you can access it for free. Additionally, you’ll find Oka Charging Stations scattered throughout Hawaii, perfect for customizing your Street Surfer.
Players from the previous installment will be pleased to discover that the customization options for the Street Surfer have been greatly expanded. You can now modify everything from front handles to unique decorative elements like flags and side plates.
Many of these customization items can be purchased at various shops around Hawaii or as rewards from gambling establishments.
If, like many players, the gambling mini-games aren’t your favorite part of the series, you can always buy chips from vendors to outright purchase desired customization items. Who has the time to engage in Koi-Koi or Blackjack anyway?
Battery Pack Locations for the Street Surfer
In addition to the speed and agility provided by the Street Surfer, similar to Ichiban’s version, you can slot in two additional battery packs to enhance efficiency, leading to less frequent charging.
This upgrade allows you to maximize your charge capacity to a total of eight stacks.
Finding these battery packs throughout Hawaii is essential, but if your finances are tight, it might be wise to acquire them after accumulating some extra cash.
The Beta Surfer Battery Pack can be purchased at the Treasure Select Pawn Shop located on River Street near Aloha Bridge for $1500, as illustrated in the accompanying images.
You can find the second Gamma Surfer Battery Pack, also priced at $1500, on the west side of the map in the Chinatown Treasure Select Pawn Shop.
Although using the Taxi Fast-Travel feature is convenient, opting for the Street Surfer is often the better choice. It allows you to interact with numerous locals, which is crucial for completing the Aloha Links activity.
