In Heroes of Hammerwatch 2, enhancing your town through upgrades is crucial for your advancement in the game. Among these enhancements, establishing the Blacksmith stands out as a key early investment. This facility not only allows you to purchase new gear but also enables you to upgrade existing equipment, ensuring that you are well-prepared for the challenges awaiting you in higher-level runs.
However, many players may find it unclear how to unlock and construct the Blacksmith. The process involves a few essential steps that we’ll outline below.
Locating the Blacksmith

Before you can establish the Blacksmith, it’s necessary to gain access to the Guild Hall, which is pivotal for unlocking new buildings. This typically occurs after completing the initial quest in the game. Following this achievement, your next task is to locate the Blacksmith in the Wilderness, which leads you to the Forest levels and the Dark Citadel.
Finding the Blacksmith can depend on some luck, but players generally encounter them during their first or second playthrough. To maximize your chances, stray from well-trodden paths during your exploration. After locating the Blacksmith, speak to them to prompt their return to town. Upon completion of your run, you’ll find the Blacksmith awaiting your instructions near the Apothecary, marking the next significant step in your building efforts.
To construct the Blacksmith, gather a total of 12 Wood and 5 Stone. Similar to other buildings, the construction can be initiated at the Guild Hall. Once it’s in place, you’ll gain access to the Armorer, where gear upgrades are facilitated, as well as a new shop for acquiring items. Positioning of the Blacksmith will be just beneath the Apothecary, where potion upgrades are typically obtained.
Upgrading the Blacksmith

Before you can upgrade your Blacksmith, ensure that your Guild Hall is upgraded as well. This will require additional resources such as wood and stone, often acquired from chests scattered throughout the Forest. Once your Guild Hall receives an upgrade, it unlocks new building options, including enhancements for the Blacksmith itself.
Upgrading the Blacksmith primarily involves finding more wood and stone. Advancing through the upgrade tiers will not only grant access to improved equipment but will also reduce upgrade costs overall. A strategic approach to resource collection includes frequently exploring off the beaten path, as valuable resources are often hidden in chests or scattered across the more remote areas of the map.
To unlock enhancements from the Armorer, you’ll need to seek out new resources such as Iron and a substantial amount of gold. This enables you to strengthen your weapon damage, boost armor, increase weapon speed, and more, facilitating smoother progression through the levels in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2. Keep in mind that these new resources typically appear in the later levels, underscoring the importance of regular visits to the Blacksmith to ensure your continued strength.
