Unlocking the Blacksmith Character in The First Berserker: Khazan Guide

Unlocking the Blacksmith Character in The First Berserker: Khazan Guide

The Blacksmith plays an essential role in The First Berserker: Khazan, a title that embodies the challenging essence of the Soulslike genre. However, unlike the traditional mechanics seen in other Souls games, players won’t be upgrading their weapons or armor at the Blacksmith. Instead, this character offers a unique crafting system for various gear and items that players can utilize throughout their journey.

Unlocking the Blacksmith is a crucial milestone, which requires players to invest some time into the game, approximately six hours, before they can access his services.

This guide will detail the steps necessary to unlock the Blacksmith and highlight the extensive benefits he brings to the gameplay experience.

Unlocking the Blacksmith in The First Berserker: Khazan

To gain access to the Blacksmith, players must complete the fifth main mission titled “The Strange Smell.”

Upon overcoming the mission’s boss, Aratra, the Blacksmith will make his appearance at the Crevice, specifically located on the bottom floor of the Human Realm.

Although he shows up after Aratra’s defeat, players will find that the Blacksmith isn’t immediately ready for business. Instead, he will ask you to locate his hammer before he can resume his crafting duties. Accept this request to kickstart the quest titled “Blacksmith’s Heirloom.”

Locating the Blacksmith’s Hammer

By accepting the Blacksmith’s Heirloom quest, a new teleportation location will unlock in the Charnak Mountain Range called the Spider’s Tomb. Select this option to teleport there and begin your mission.

This quest is relatively short, given that the Spider’s Tomb is also compact. Your primary objective is to defeat the local boss known as Bearius to earn the Blacksmith’s Hammer.

Fortunately, the paths within Spider’s Tomb are straightforward, minimizing the potential to get lost. Progress through this linear level by defeating several enemies until you reach the boss gate.

Strategies for Defeating Bearius

Bearius The First Berserker Khazan

While Bearius poses a challenge, particularly if you’ve faced more daunting bosses before, his combat style resembles that of standard bear enemies you’ve encountered. His attack patterns mainly involve claw swipes and lunging bites.

Although you can guard against these attacks, it is advisable to dodge his lunges, as dodging allows for a quicker escape from danger. One particularly tricky move is when Bearius lays down before executing a swift back attack. I recommend holding the guard button instead of attempting a perfect counter during this move.

If you find Bearius too formidable, consider utilizing throwables from a distance to chip away at his health before engaging directly. The javelin can be particularly effective for this strategy.

Upon successfully defeating Bearius, you will receive the Blacksmith’s Hammer, thereby completing the Blacksmith’s Heirloom quest. Return to the Crevice to hand the hammer back to the Blacksmith.

Utilizing the Blacksmith’s Services

After unlocking his services, the Blacksmith enables players to craft various individual gear pieces including weapons and armor. For those looking to create complete armor sets, players must collect specific armor set scrolls during their adventures. Wearing a full set can provide substantial stat bonuses, making it an invaluable resource in your journey.

In addition to gear, players can also craft consumables such as enhancers, potions, and fuel. Given the increasing difficulty of bosses as you progress in The First Berserker: Khazan, having access to these consumables can significantly enhance your chances of success.

Similar to armor scrolls, recipes for these consumables are scattered across various levels in the game, and players must find them to unlock the crafting options at the Blacksmith.
