Unlocking the Black Rock Launcher in Alan Wake 2: The Lake House Guide

In Alan Wake 2: The Lake House, players will encounter a range of new terrifying foes, including unsettling painting monsters, which are impervious to the standard weaponry available to the main character, Agent Estevez. To defeat these creatures, gamers must acquire the innovative Black Rock Launcher. However, obtaining this powerful tool requires navigating some challenges.

How to Locate the Black Rock Launcher in Alan Wake 2: The Lake House?

Early in the DLC, players can access the area containing the Black Rock Launcher, which is situated within the Inventory section of Sublevel 1. Nevertheless, a locked door prevents direct entry into the office housing the weapon. Therefore, Agent Estevez must delve deeper into the facility to find a way to unlock it.

To put it simply, players need to secure the Security Clearance 02 card, which can be found in the Control Center situated on Sublevel 2. However, once Agent Estevez arrives on this level, the Control Center goes into lockdown. Consequently, the first task is to lift the lockdown by discovering the password for the Control Center computer, enabling the protagonist to navigate through the area.

The Security Clearance 02 card lies on the ground next to a deceased character in the Control Center on Sublevel 2. After retrieving this card, Estevez needs to return to Sublevel 1, having dealt with the Taken. At this stage, players are one step closer to obtaining the Black Rock Launcher.

However, there is still one last obstacle to overcome — the moving painting panels within the area. Players who have previously explored this section might remember interacting with a switch in the panel control room that shifted the painting panel obstructing part of the room. To proceed, return to the control room and activate the switch once more, allowing the panel to return to its original position.

Success can be confirmed when the panel once again obstructs the view from behind the safety of the control room window. This action will have also moved the panel blocking the entrance to the Inventory office. Once that obstacle is cleared, Estevez can approach the newly accessible door and unlock it with the Security Clearance 02 card.

Upon entering the secured area, players should be cautious of the painting monsters that may spawn. The Black Rock Launcher will be positioned on a desk, accompanied by additional ammunition. Picking it up adds this powerful weapon to Estevez’s inventory, enabling her to combat the painting adversaries lurking in Sublevel 1 of Alan Wake 2: The Lake House.
