Unlocking OFF: A Comprehensive Guide to Secret Endings

In the realm of RPGs, secret endings hold a special allure, and OFF follows this tradition, presenting players with a hidden cutscene that requires a fair amount of effort to unlock. To successfully reach this elusive conclusion, careful preparation and exploration are essential.

Before embarking on this quest for the secret ending, ensure you’ve completed all three zones of the game. It’s highly recommended to save your progress at the final save point located in The Room, which serves as the definitive point of no return.

Only then can you venture back to earlier areas that have now been overrun by significantly tougher adversaries. Heading in without appropriate gear or experience would likely result in a swift defeat against these formidable foes.

This guide will walk you through the necessary steps to collect every item required for the secret ending. While the effort might seem disproportionate to the reward, the journey holds its own unique charm.

Grand Finale

Purified Zone 1

Your adventure begins in Purified Zone 1, where the rock puzzles prove to be a notable challenge. Start by heading up the tracks from your spawn point until you reach the remnants of Damien. From there, descend into the smoke mines, retracing your steps toward the Barns.

Navigate the mines by pushing the upper rock to the right and moving another rock above it upwards for access. Feel free to explore the two chests at the top, but to progress, continue moving through the fence, then up and left to enter the subsequent puzzle room.

In this new area, push a rock to the right, then proceed up, pushing another rock left. Continue upwards and right, ultimately pushing a final rock to the right, which will allow you to access an additional section of the track.

You have the option to challenge a remaster-exclusive boss by heading upwards or to proceed right toward Alma. Navigating the maze may prove difficult, so instead, call for a pedalo, which will manifest to your left. Continue upwards until you spot a door nestled between two buildings. Inside, you’ll discover a save point and two chests; one of which contains the coveted Grand Finale item.

Grand Diagonal

Purified Zone 2

As you make your way to the library, you’ll quickly realize that access to the once-open mall area is now blocked. The only route forward is to enter the library and ascend to the topmost door, granting you access to this previously sealed-off section.

Upon entering, you can opt to explore the door to your right, rather than the dead-end shortcut on the left. The maze here is empty and easier to traverse. Descending, you’ll discover two chests; it’s uncertain whether they are accessible at this point.

Head left, then continue down and left until you find a door that leads back to an area you might recognize. Don’t miss the wall with the numbers “1805, ” which indicate the code needed to open a door nearby. Search for the house located in the bottom left of the map with “1709” on it.

Using these codes, navigate rightward to locate a safe door that prompts you for the code. Entering “1709” will lead you into a room housing the last survivor of the purification and a staircase descending towards the Grand Diagonal.

Grand Spectral

Purified Zone 3

In Zone 3, proceed through Area 1 in your usual manner, utilizing the top left door in the large room to access Area 2. Here, you’ll find that the lab, once hosting Von Gacy, is now lifeless, with puzzles absent.

Direct your route to the Sugar room, where a door leads to Area 3. Ascend the ladder and continue down the pipe, where you’ll have the opportunity to face a secret boss within the sugar oven, or exit back to the monorail as before.

The monorail will have an option leading to? ??, which refers to Area 4. By navigating left, up, and right past various doors, you’ll arrive at the previously familiar location where you fought Enoch, which now resembles an endless white void.

Continue upwards until a door goes off-screen, then venture right for some distance before entering another door above. With a touch of luck, you’ll stumble upon a room containing two chests, one of which holds the Grand Spectral item.

Grand Brachial

The Room

Your next goal is acquiring the Grand Brachial, a task that is remarkably straightforward. Having collected the other three Grand items, proceed to The Room and purchase the Grand Brachial from Zacharie for a hefty price of 5, 000 credits.

Grand Chocolatier + Aries Card

Zone 0

Return to Zone 0 for your first visit since leaving. You’ll find that the room containing the initial code now has a staircase leading down. Prepare yourself for a challenging boss fight upon entering.

Your adversary, Sugar, wields control over the secret fifth element known as Sugar. While not incredibly damaging, she possesses remarkable fortitude, and her six little companions can complicate matters considerably.

Prioritize eliminating the smaller foes first, and remain vigilant regarding the status effects impacting you and Sugar, as they can dramatically alter your chances of survival. Consider stocking up on Belial’s Meat if you haven’t already.

After a prolonged battle of whittling down the little companions and maintaining your health, you should eventually weaken Sugar significantly. Once she’s defeated, converse with Zacharie in the room prior to the save point for an enticing proposition.

Upon gather all five Grand items, you face the choice of trading them for either the Ashley Bat or the Aries Card. It is advisable to create two save files here; while the Ashley Bat can be advantageous against the final secret boss, if your focus is solely on the ending, opt for the Aries Card.

The Finale

Now that you’ve gathered everything, it’s time to return to the room and confront the queen. To achieve the desired outcome, align yourself with the Batter during the concluding confrontation and secure a victory. Once the credits roll, you will finally unveil the secret scene that you worked diligently to unlock.
