As Swann and her friends explore the enchanting woods, she unexpectedly discovers a fence adorned with love locks, including one that belongs to the mysterious couple Dylan and Corey. This element of the game serves as a subtle yet intriguing puzzle. If you’re having trouble deciphering it, you may be overlooking an essential clue. Below is a guide on how to resolve Dylan and Corey’s combination lock puzzle in Lost Records: Bloom and Rage.
Unlocking Dylan and Corey’s Combination Lock
The Dylan and Corey love lock puzzle is introduced in Scene 10 titled ‘Lights, Camera, Action!’ (Tape 1). It is distinct from the later Cabin Lock puzzle. In this segment, Swann and her friends set out to film clips for their debut music video while wandering the forests of Velvet Cove. During their adventure, Swann encounters a fence delineating the Mikaelsen property, the residence of Kat’s family.
This fence is lined with love locks, placed by various couples in town. Approaching the fence will enable interaction with one specific lock, belonging to Dylan and Corey. This lock features a four-number combination, which players need to decipher.
For those feeling pressed to locate the code, there’s no need to panic—it’s not immediately accessible. The actual combination is revealed later in the game, specifically near the conclusion of Tape 1. Look for a polaroid photo of Dylan and Corey, which is kept inside Corey’s bike bag near the Blue Spruce Bar in Scene 24 (‘Riot Grrrls’). This photo bears their anniversary date: August 27, 1994, which is critical for unlocking the combination.
Once you have completed Tape 1, you can revisit this puzzle using the ‘Scene Selection’ option found in the Main Menu of the game. Select Scene 10 from the menu and choose whether to replay it in Collectible Mode or Story Mode. Opt for Collectible Mode, as it allows you to focus on collecting any items you might have missed without disrupting your story progression.
Replay the scene until Swann reaches the love lock again. Interact with it and enter the combination 0827. Successfully unlocking it will reward you with the ‘Heartbreak’ achievement/trophy.
This approach is beneficial for gathering other collectibles throughout the game, such as those tricky Graffiti locations, moving you closer to the ultimate 100% completion goal.
