To engage a boss, you first need to gather prisms scattered across the map.

Some prisms may give the impression of being underground. If you find yourself near a yellow indicator with no visible mini-boss, search in nearby buildings or on flat surfaces. You will require a key to access the dungeon where the mini-boss resides, allowing you to clear it for the prisms.

Keep in mind that the prisms are often protected by smaller mini-bosses. Players must collect at least two prisms before being able to confront their first Crown Boss. It is advisable to tackle these battles in cooperative mode to enhance your chances of survival and success.

Successfully defeating a Crown Boss in Hyper Light Breaker rewards players with several items, including the coveted Abyss Stone and some valuable gear. Following the fight, it’s best to exit the area and embark on a new run, utilizing the gear acquired. Although you may contemplate switching characters, it is recommended to do so at the start of a new Cycle, as changing mid-Cycle can be particularly challenging.

Upon returning to the Hub, also referred to as the Hotel, head over to the telepad to initiate a new run. When the character selection screen appears, you can scroll through the available characters. Look for the “Unlock”option, which will display an icon of an Abyss Stone next to it. Simply select this prompt to spend your Abyss Stone and unlock the chosen character.
