Unlock Fast Travel in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Guide

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach introduces players to a vast and intricate map, presenting unique challenges when navigating its rugged landscape. As you embark on your journey, you may find that certain orders or side quests require you to travel to distant facilities, which can be tedious on foot. This is where the fast travel feature proves invaluable, providing a quicker means of transportation, conserving your footwear, and enhancing overall gameplay enjoyment.

In this guide, we will explore how to unlock fast travel in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, along with details on its accessibility across the game map.

Unlocking Fast Travel in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

How to Unlock Fast Travel Death Stranding 2

You must first complete Order Number 12 in Episode 3 to gain access to the fast travel feature. Once this order is finished, you’ll unlock the ability to teleport using your ship, the DHV Magellan.

Furthermore, players can utilize Transponders to fast travel starting from Episode 7. Creating these requires a PCC Lv.2, which becomes available as you progress through the main storyline.

Utilizing Fast Travel

How to Use Fast Travel Death Stranding 2

To initiate fast travel with the DHV Magellan, simply board the ship and access your map. Hold down the X button to select “Chart Route” and pick your destination. This method allows you to transport cargo as well.

Remember, you must be physically present on the DHV Magellan to trigger fast travel; attempting to chart a course from a distance will result in the ship leaving without you.

While the fast travel system in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is beneficial, it does have limitations. Fast travel can only be executed between docking facilities equipped with the DHV Magellan—meaning it is not available in the open world or during active missions.

On the other hand, Transponders enable fast travel in the open world. To use this method, place a PCC Lv.2 on flat ground to construct a Transponder. Interact with it to access the fast travel feature.

Although Transponders facilitate travel to various locations marked with a down arrow (including facilities and other Transponders), it’s important to note that you cannot teleport cargo or vehicles using this option, unlike with the DHV Magellan.

Instead, any cargo you carry will be stored in a private locker when utilizing Transponders, meaning you won’t have any items in your backpack upon respawning. While this isn’t catastrophic—you can simply retrieve your cargo from the DHV Magellan—it may necessitate reorganization of your load and weight management.

Lastly, keep in mind that certain pivotal story events in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach may restrict any form of fast travel. During these narrative segments, you will need to fulfill your current objectives and advance the plot before you can use fast travel again.
