On October 15, 2024, SBS unveiled the profiles of the 42 hopefuls participating in their eagerly awaited boy group survival series, Universe League. Following the concept trailer’s debut, the contestants have quickly generated significant excitement among the K-pop community worldwide.

Universe League is a forthcoming South Korean reality competition designed by SBS to create a new K-pop boy group. This series is the second season and male equivalent of Universe Ticket, the audition program that successfully paved the way for the girl group UNIS. Mark your calendars, as the show is set to kick off on November 22, 2024.

This season brings a fresh blend of contestants, including eager newcomers and some familiar faces. Standout participants such as Cha Woongki and Zhang Shuaibo, who were previously seen in Boy’s Planet, will return. Nam Doyoon, who portrayed a young Jung Hae-in in the Netflix series D.P., is also in the competition.

Universe League features a rich tapestry of contestants, spanning ex and current idols, actors, and talented individuals from other survival shows. With such an array of backgrounds, ages, and experiences, audiences are excited to witness the stories that will unfold throughout the series.

In Universe League, the 42 contestants will be organized into three teams: Rhythm, Groove, and Beat. They will participate in a league-style contest aimed at earning a place in the ultimate global boy group and claiming the coveted Prism Cup. Three esteemed K-pop figures will oversee each team, selecting members and leading competitive rounds as the show progresses.

The team coaches boast distinguished backgrounds. Noteworthy figures such as Lee Changsub and Yugyeom, celebrated for their outstanding performances, will take on producer roles. They will be joined by WayV’s Ten and Yangyang in significant capacities. Additionally, Jay Park from 2PM will serve as the primary MC, guiding contestants as they navigate their journeys. Together, they aim to identify standout talents, refine their abilities, and contribute to the formation of the strongest possible K-pop boy group on a global scale.

Co-produced by SBS and F&F Entertainment, Universe League promises thrilling competition and personal growth as the contestants strive to fulfill their aspirations for international fame. The final group will debut under F&F Entertainment, associated with the clothing company of the same name.

This much-anticipated survival show is on course to premiere on November 22, 2024.
