It emerged that Song-Yi had stopped attending school following her awakening, choosing instead to pursue a path as a hunter. In contrast, Sung Jin-Woo provided much-needed essentials, such as warm clothing, enhancing the survival rate of his group. By reassuring them against the presence of further magical beasts amid ice bears, he cultivated a sense of security. While the group rested, Sung utilized his shadow army to eliminate the ice bears lurking in a nearby cave, effectively harnessing their shadows.

Eventually, Kim-Chul stumbled upon Sung Jin-Woo and his team, who were sharing a meal by the bonfire. Infuriated at the sight, especially as he lamented the starvation and loss of his own team, he placed the blame squarely on Jin-Woo. Without hesitation, Sung retaliated against Kim-Chul, who radiated hostility. It soon became apparent that Kim-Chul had unwittingly led Baruka and his demons to them. While the dungeon boss attempted to negotiate, Jin-Woo chose to summon his shadows immediately.

As a fierce battle ignited, Sung’s group retreated into the forest. Despite his strength, Baruka proved formidable, and even after calling Igris, Jin-Woo sensed defeat. When Kim-Chul attempted to attack again, Igris eliminated him, resulting in his recruitment into Sung’s shadow army as Iron. Baruka continued to overpower Jin-Woo’s fighters. Contrary to belief, Baruka’s forces dwindled as Sung’s shadow army systematically eradicated them, isolating him.
Though shocked to discover his ice elf minions had perished, Baruka remained confident, confronting Iron, Igris, and Jin-Woo solo. Ultimately, Sung anticipated the boss’s maneuvers, rendering him vulnerable to an onslaught from Iron, whose hammer struck Baruka down swiftly. Sung’s hope to extract Baruka’s shadow faltered when he realized the powerful demon was impervious to the technique.

Upon their emergence from the gate, Sung Jin-Woo and the surviving hunters found that Hwang Dong-soo had already departed for the USA, mistakenly believing that his enemies had perished within the red gate. White Tiger guild master and S-rank hunter Baek Yoon-ho was left astounded to realize that only low-ranking hunters had survived. Attempts to query Jin-Woo yielded no substantial information.
