Understanding the Lore of Minecraft Illagers and the Creaking Sounds
Upon the introduction of the Creaking and the Pale Garden in Minecraft snapshots along with beta and preview versions, players noticed a unique interaction between the Illager mob faction and this new wooden entity. Initially, it was merely the way these creatures interacted that caught players’ attention. However, as investigations deepened, a more significant correlation was uncovered.
Various elements and indicators clearly illustrate the ties between the Illagers, the Creaking, and the Pale Garden biome. Below, we explore the various lore connections speculated between these entities and the newly introduced biome.
Exploring the Lore Connections of Illagers, the Creaking, and the Pale Garden in Minecraft
Illagers Exhibit Fear Towards Creaking
Upon the Creaking’s debut in Minecraft snapshots, it became apparent that Illagers were uniquely affected by this entity. Despite being some of the most formidable hostile mobs, they tended to steer clear of the Creaking. In contrast, all other hostile, neutral, and passive mobs showed no interest in this new wood-like creature.
This peculiar reaction initially hinted at a connection between the Creaking and the Illagers.
Pale Garden Resembles the Dark Forest Biome
In tandem with the Creaking, the Pale Garden was also featured in various snapshots and beta phases. This new biome strikingly resembles the Dark Forest, characterized by a thick grove of dark oak trees that barely lets daylight touch the forest floor.
Given that the Illagers’ primary stronghold, the Woodland Mansions, are typically found in Dark Forests, the similarities between this and the new Pale Garden suggest that the Illagers may have resided in this area when it was merely a forested environment.
Resin Available in Woodland Mansions
Mojang subsequently introduced resin clumps to the Pale Garden biome. Resin is a new item that spawns when players engage the Creaking mob, appearing on pale oak log blocks adjacent to the Creaking’s heart block. The resin can also be extracted from pale oak trees or the heart block itself.
Interestingly, these resin pieces can also be located in Woodland Mansion chests, which are the strongholds of the Illagers, with a 16% chance of being present.
This leads to a plausible theory: the Illagers may have once inhabited the Dark Forest and encountered this resin during their confrontations with the Creaking after transforming the area into the Pale Garden.
Alternatively, one might consider that Illagers stumbled upon the Pale Garden while roaming the terrain and soon discovered that physical attacks were ineffective against the Creaking. In their fright, they gathered resin clumps and hastily retreated.
Vexes and Evokers Share Pale Tones Similar to the Pale Garden
With the introduction of Allays in Minecraft, they were discovered imprisoned within Woodland Mansions, indicating that Illagers, particularly Evokers, were converting them into Vexes, hostile creature resembling fairies. The resemblance between Allays and Vexes adds further weight to this lore connection.
Now, with the addition of the Pale Garden, another correlation can be made. Given that Vexes share a similar pale hue with the pale oak trees, it suggests a narrative that connects their origin to the Pale Garden biome.
